Think this might stir the place up a bit . Does anyone else get p@@Sed off with all the cars and shells on ebay with no id and no v5 ? I know a lot of people are not bothered , and no doubt some don't have any because its lost or its been used for rallying etc , but come on , it just fuels more theft turning a blind eye to it all doesnt it . I mean theres one on ebay saying its got no id but you can [maybe ] make out the tag still on it . And then you get people selling the v5's as 'shell beyond repair etc ' . And people wonder why so many osf's get nicked , only to turn up after a year or two spent in the back of big vinnies lock up .

yep, pi**es me right off that theres so many on ebay. pretty obvious there going to end up on a nicked car. i just hope the people selling them get theres nicked. every time i see one i think it could be my car the buyer is planning to put it on next. you never know whos got there eye on your motor. 2 rivets 4 screws and your fu**ed. mines having numbers stamped in hidden places as i rebuild it and it will have a tracker fitted.

i sold that one was it came spare with the car and i didnt like having just an id laying about even if tax except id rather keep paying tax and have the history, but it went to a guy that has a mk2 and a few mk1's but he bought a rotten shell with no id so i was like take it away

othere than that i do not agree

The car will never be a proper RS, Sport, Mex or whatever the tags say, so it should set alarm bells ringing at DVLA if they kept a better track of history etc BUT THEY DONT so its easy for the car thief and ringers to do their stuff and not just with Fords. Modern BMW, Audi and Merc's are more common than we think. :banghead:

how about this , a mate called me after buying 4 cars in a barn 3 duff rusty mk 5 escor/ mk 5 tina estate in a heap , but a mk 1 escort 2 door full of bits but nothing sweet he shifted the others, and brought the escort home.

i came over to check it out no id was found so we dug , it was early shell but something was saying dig, so on strut top was a number, on a rear qtr glass a reg ,,,,,,,,,,,,,, later search on computer showed it to be a rs1600!!

we applied for log book and got it then ,dvla rang and said OOPs its already an id on a car in use, they checked shell and the other guys.

well his was facelift and running a pinto ours a avo shell [well looked like it]

the other guy gets the id. why? no idea we are waiting to find out what happens now.

well they are "possibly" going to issue another reg to the shell however what value would that shell have with no real history and is it worth lavashing great wads restoring a rs 1600 [think of the engine] ouch!
