  4. Well I'm back! I don't know why I didn't visit here for ages , I suppose the Retards Club group was easier to scan through but I kind of forgot to look! My journey through ford's has kind of stagnated to just capris. I still have 3 mk1s , but 2x pumas too (I know puma but it's a lovely car to drive) I have started to look through my garage and realised how much of a nightmare my Mrs would have if I popped a piston and got scrapped. I'm going to have a clear out soon so I will be listing stuff ( I know I have said this for a decade but I must do it) As an opinion from guys here is it worth listing here or Retards Club? By the way most stuff I have has been hoarded for so long it's being reproduced! Still nice to be here again, been so long I expect a new member welcome Mike

  7. I'm currently I am currently on holiday! searching across Europe whilst traveling for left-hand-drive Capri Dash .face lift mk 1 mk 2 or 3 have been to scrap yards (when wife isn't looking and looking) everywhere with a well-trained eye of my son .but we can't find anything! on the way back we pass through Germany and France is there any old school members over there with a dash I can buy?
  8. Any condition considered require Mark 1 Mark 2 mark 3 Dash with top for left hand drive car will pay postage or collect if possible
  9. It is with great Sadness I have to say that envious eyes, extreme values and lack of secure parking is influencing my escort use, in something I don't like but I put it down too old fart paranoia! I just keep thinking I'm being followed or that someone is going to damage it, I almost wish the value of the car was declining then it would then be easier to use, less of a risk and probably more enjoyable. value has a double-edge to it . increase the value and maybe use it less, I am considering doing a deliberately rough capri to increase my use of it, and therefore reduce the risk of theft or damage . I think I am over thinking it . Does it effect others this way?
  10. I really like the site, I'm proudly a contributor,I don't post much but read lots . It's a great reference library and soundingboard, the for sale sections don't get as much use as they used to but with ebay and now Retards Club it is understandable. I may not be noticed when I visit as I do not always log in but I'm here! I appreciate your help, and banter please keep it going, I'm sure that we would all miss it not being here Mike

  16. I tried it's got on a Mazda 6 and cleared it for about 1000 miles . OK that was on a vehicle that had high miles and the engine management light was up but I'm not overly keen on it . what kind of vehicle is it? Maybe as a preventative a DPF cleaner I have used them in the past Mike

  18. Has anyone else had one of what I had in 19 83 it was a Ford Escort Mark 2 1300 Ghia 2 door .mine was a V reg and I saw one other which was a r reg . Mine used to belong to my old physics teacher who actually spent an entire lesson teaching us about kinetic energy potential energy while standing in the car park next to his new white escort ! I have not been looking for that car and never seen it again my brother had it and blew the engine up . the interior was tailor-made and apparently there was 200 made but I've never been able to verify this all I know is it was very hard to find the rear quarter trim which ran from the back of the door to the rear by the boot as ghia trims did It had a beige interior Do any survive?
  19. Well I never knew they had inclined shocks!! I had 3 over the years and all had uprights I must admit there were other items that were missing though but I always thought mexico's had upright rear shocks. still my point stands, and it is not a case of looking under cars at shows. the gentleman asked me to look how clean it was which is when I noticed the missing items. As for reshelling ,back in 1980 a car came into a Ford garage near me which was an RS3100. this had had a major argument with a tree and lost ! so everything was transposed onto a GT body shell and let's face it that's what they are ! the IDS were swapped with the DVLA and back then if you owned both cars, sent in the log books and showed the engine numbers have been transferred as well you were able to do it and you had to send in the log book of the second car to be marked as scrapped. The one thing that I was puzzled about was the logbook . where it said former keepers actually had the former keepers of the doner shell on it ,which was a high figure on this particular car yet the original rs3100 only had two owners on it but DVLA would not change that ,the car was probably devalued by that. Mikà
  20. Of course I understand that cars need repaired and some panels replaced for non genuine ones, but on the one I was looking the shocks angled inwards as early ones were , and quite a few parts that were obviously wrong My intention is not to offend those who have tried their best, but some things are just blatantly wrong ?
  21. I was at a show this weekend and and it sported two Mexico escorts amongst the 6 escorts that were there I casually looked underneath I could immediately see that one of them was not a Mexico. after chatting with the owner who proudly announced how much he paid for it I thought what a shame! he doesn't know it's a fraud, there were so many things which had been missed on the "conversion"but sure enough his logbook said Ford 1600 GT Mexico, I just wondered how many other escorts out there have such a dubious past. and how many inflated prices they're sold for. it must really Drive the owners of the real mexico's and RS's nuts because they are bound to see it too and are bound to be annoyed that they're cherished Ford is being diluted in its rarity by these copies. I myself though have been guilty of changing the ID of a vehicle! back in 1982 I bought a Mexico Mark 1 which was a genuine. and I looked around for a 1300 XL and changed the ID down to a 1300 XL to avoid high insurance . strangely that also increased its value amongst my peers though I feel less guilty about that !! Mike
  22. I don't normally watch links like this in full, but I found it really quite enjoyable. I like the soundtracks too, kind of reminded me of council areas in the 80s. it was a simple Echo that made me smile.
