My mk1 fiesta 950 keeps failing mot on emissions. I now have 10 days to sort them out or I pay for a 4th test!

Its got a weber 32ich carb which im told is a direct replacement part. Ive tried adjusting the air/fuel mixture etc. But still kicks out too much fuel through the exhaust. Its a leaded head and im using redex additive. Not sure what else I can do. Hoping someone can point me in the right direction!

Why don't you take it to Eddie at Motest by the footy ground and get him to set it up. He would've sorted it the 1st time if you'd taken it there for the MOT? He is proper oldskool. Got a 105e

Thats who has it now. Hes just called to say it is choking up his machine. The way he made it sound was that he didnt know how to set it up.

Back to basics - you say the carb is a direct replacement but is it spec'd for that engine? Could be spec'd for

something bigger - it could bolt on fine but be fuelling your ickle 950 like it was an 1100 or 1300?

If the thing is not burning the fuel, its either TOO rich or its ignition related - either way it'd be running like crap!

Ive stripped the carb down now. Just going to look up on net to see what jets are supposed to be in. Does anyone know what there supposed to be?

Excellent. Looks like none of the numbers match up or close to what I got. Now I need a diagram showing me which jet is called what!

Cheers dave. Your doing your modding job very well!

But doesnt help as all the jets have a lower rating than whats on my carb? So surely this just means its tje setting up of the carb that isnt right? The idle jet # is 40, the main jet # is 115 and the needle valve is 150
