Hi

Is it just me or is the home page getting much slower to load?

Seems to have slowed down over the last few days waiting for a response. Once the response is received it actually renders ok.

This is the diagnosis from the server hosts...........................but it may as well be written in Ancient Greek for me!

I've tracked this down and the issue seems to be with a database query it's running on the front page which takes 3-5 seconds to execute. I'm not seeing all of the query in the trace, but it seems to be this:-

SELECT p.*,t.*, t.title as topic_title, t.last_post as lastpost, t.last_poster_id as lastposter, t.last_poster_name as last...

So will be related to one of the boxes you have on the front page that's possibly displaying latest posts or similar.

I'm sure it can...........................not by me though  :(

You need a few more details, which form it refers to, marry up the line of code they have spotted with the form and away you go.

Easy :D

Makes sense i guess as every time you click the home page it has to update the info in the columns to the side with the latest posts etc..

years since i did web design, back when i did it we used HTML coding it line by line rather than all the fancy point and click technology today

For some reason the server hosts took our forum offline to check something out last night ( I got an explanation full of techno babble that I didn't understand) then whoever did it forgot to bring it back up again, cue some apologies this morning. It didn't go offline till after I'd logged off last night so I didn't realise anything was amiss till I woke up to a number of "site's down" emails this morning.
