skeeter Posted May 12, 2013 Report Posted May 12, 2013 Hi Is it just me or is the home page getting much slower to load? Seems to have slowed down over the last few days waiting for a response. Once the response is received it actually renders ok. S
Admin Vista Posted May 14, 2013 Admin Report Posted May 14, 2013 Also noticed this (just on the home page) and it is being looked at.
GJUK Posted May 15, 2013 Report Posted May 15, 2013 Agreed. navigating to oldskoolford.co.uk takes an age. Once on, works quickly.
Admin Vista Posted May 15, 2013 Admin Report Posted May 15, 2013 This is the diagnosis from the server hosts...........................but it may as well be written in Ancient Greek for me! I've tracked this down and the issue seems to be with a database query it's running on the front page which takes 3-5 seconds to execute. I'm not seeing all of the query in the trace, but it seems to be this:-SELECT p.*,t.*, t.title as topic_title, t.last_post as lastpost, t.last_poster_id as lastposter, t.last_poster_name as last...So will be related to one of the boxes you have on the front page that's possibly displaying latest posts or similar.
SmokeEm Posted May 15, 2013 Report Posted May 15, 2013 ^^^^^^ Great explaination. Can it be fixed? lol
Admin Vista Posted May 15, 2013 Admin Report Posted May 15, 2013 ^^^^^^ Great explaination. Can it be fixed? lol I'm sure it can...........................not by me though
SmokeEm Posted May 15, 2013 Report Posted May 15, 2013 The 3-5 sec delay is moe like 10-15 for me though

GJUK Posted May 15, 2013 Report Posted May 15, 2013 You need a few more details, which form it refers to, marry up the line of code they have spotted with the form and away you go. Easy
5tox Posted May 15, 2013 Report Posted May 15, 2013 Makes sense i guess as every time you click the home page it has to update the info in the columns to the side with the latest posts etc.. years since i did web design, back when i did it we used HTML coding it line by line rather than all the fancy point and click technology today
D-FENS Posted May 17, 2013 Report Posted May 17, 2013 Ok now but yesterday i couldn,t get on here at all .I kept getting an "HTTP 403 Error forbidden" coming up .
5tox Posted May 17, 2013 Report Posted May 17, 2013 Yeah i got that too mate, i guess it was while work was taking place. Glad its sorted now
Admin Vista Posted May 17, 2013 Admin Report Posted May 17, 2013 For some reason the server hosts took our forum offline to check something out last night ( I got an explanation full of techno babble that I didn't understand) then whoever did it forgot to bring it back up again, cue some apologies this morning. It didn't go offline till after I'd logged off last night so I didn't realise anything was amiss till I woke up to a number of "site's down" emails this morning.
Mrs O/H/C Posted May 17, 2013 Report Posted May 17, 2013 It went down about 10pm last night ... But all working from mid morning today
skeeter Posted May 18, 2013 Author Report Posted May 18, 2013 Seems back to normal for me today - hooray! S
