good idea posse :) How about a show at prescott hill climb! :Bravo:  After retro rides gathering you'll see what a great venue it could be for something like classic ford show :ykt:

Also agree with most, the plastic is a joke, how can cars built in the last 10 years be on show at a "classic" show? Personally I agree with a cut off date around 85' (OSF actually has it bang on if you ask me but there never gonna turn away that many cars!) Also needs to be a way of getting all the classics in the regular carpark into the show area. Spoke to someone at this years show with a mint mk2 1600 sport who couldn't bring it in (i think he thought he was in the show and shine but wasn't) and was scrambling round trying to find a stand pass as he didn't wanna leave the car in the regular carpark. How crazy really when there were mondeo's, focus etc on show! Also swear I saw a few cars that weren't even ford! A subaru for one example! ? :beat:  However needs to be said that the guys at classic ford do a great job with the show overall, as with the mag and everything else :) Just need to filter out the shit a bit more imo :ykt:

Lots of comments here and I have to agree to walk past what you don't want to look at. I travel 340 miles to get there and I had saw all the cars I wanted within an hour. The jumble was good and made it worthwhile this year but we discussed going to alternative shows in the future. We went to the Ford Fair 2 years ago and there was a field full of Mk1 Focus RS christ they are all the same colour! Never to return to Ford Fair. It's a pity that the Classic Ford show has went this way but perhaps that's the only solution for the show to survive! The best stand was OSF by a country mile but that's really no surprise. Fingers crossed for the future.

No it wasn't , it was people not bringing their precious Escorts out to support the meet.

On the subject of classic Ford show, do the same as Goodwood revival and  ADVERTISE

it as pre 1980 only , AND STICK TO IT !

Having the moderns on the club stands is a problem, but not a massive one IMO, and there's no easy way to sort it, as far as I can see.

There's an unofficial cut-off of 1991, and the relevant club stand organisers are informed of this, but ultimately they have no control over what cars turn up - Joe Bloggs may say he's bringing his Mk1, but on the day what's to say he fancies coming down in the air-conditioned comfort of his Focus instead? If a modern shows up, do they then turn them away and risk having an empty club stand?

As for Ford Fair... it's always had a leaning to the more modern cars, but having attended the show for 19 years I can confidently say there are more classics attending now and than were 10 years ago.

Happy days...

then they have won lol.

I’m in the same opinion tho all jokes a side  like has been said I have been going since the show started and its deffo getting like ford fair now which is a shame . And to be honest this may well be are last stand at ford fair.

That would be a shame mate as it gives us a chance to showcase our cars and represent the classics.  FF has a huge footfall through the gates and I'm sure there's been a fair few inspired by the classics in the past and gone out and bought or restored one..

Why do people keep my moaning ... if you don't like the modern plastic then vote with your feet and don't go ... for me I think it's important to keep putting your old skool stuff on the stands ... life is too short to moan about trivial shit! We at OSF know how difficult it is to keep the right cars on our stand when people don't read the rules! Imagine how hard it is to "police" it when 1000's of cars turn up ... it just can't be done! Ignore the stuff you don't like and enjoy the stuff you do like! Don't abandon your clubs (and I am talking about all old Ford clubs) the plastic should be even more of a reason for you to have your old skool motor at the show!

Have to admit this is my outlook now. I was originally going to stay away from FF but then thought it'd be a shame if everyone thought this and stayed home, so there'd be NO osf at the show.

Gotta help fly the flag and all that :)

How can people not see it cannot be policed? Yes, it would be nice to have it all classic Fords, but it's just not feasible!

A 1985 cut off or any other cut off would stop same cars of different years coming in. It would mean late registered Capris couldn't come in but early ones could. Could you imagine the outcry that would spark? And how it would alienate Capri owners who would no doubt band together? And how would a cut off even work - checking logbooks on the door? Can you imagine the queues?!

I enjoyed the show this year. I thought there was plenty to keep me entertained and anything I didn't like I walked past - the same as any car show, whether that was a Mk1 Focus RS or a Mk3 Cortina in a colour I don't like :)

Actually it can be easily policed if people had the balls. Just go up to a car that's not 'on the list' and ask them to move it. Better still have someone on the gate and tell them to park in a different car park to the osf.

Or is that too difficult?

Yeah it isn't hard to filter out stuff like the mondeo's, ka's, focus' etc you hardly need someone knowledgable on the gate to tell the difference. Also enough other "classic" car shows don't seem to have a problem stopping newer cars getting in :ykt:

It's too late by then - these cars are pre-booked into the show and the owners have paid for a spot on a club stand, whether the stand organiser has prior knowledge of these cars attending or not. You just can't turn them away - at the very least the stand organiser ends up with a half-empty club stand, and that looks far worse than any so-called modern Fords being parked on them. :-(

The thing is that by age XR2,s (mk1 & mk2), XR3's RS1600i's XR4's and Sierra Cosworths and possibly Escort Cosworths are classic cars (over 20 years old) these are not old skool cars that we prefer but are classics in there own right and the show is called "Classic Ford Show" but i do agree that Mondeos ka's focus's are not what the show is about.
