How can people not see it cannot be policed? Yes, it would be nice to have it all classic Fords, but it's just not feasible! A 1985 cut off or any other cut off would stop same cars of different years coming in. It would mean late registered Capris couldn't come in but early ones could. Could you imagine the outcry that would spark? And how it would alienate Capri owners who would no doubt band together? And how would a cut off even work - checking logbooks on the door? Can you imagine the queues?! I enjoyed the show this year. I thought there was plenty to keep me entertained and anything I didn't like I walked past - the same as any car show, whether that was a Mk1 Focus RS or a Mk3 Cortina in a colour I don't like

This comes up every year and there the fact is there is no way to restrict what cars enter. How would you suggest it's done? By model? By year? By judges at the gate? You can't do it by model as people like different things - is a 3-door Cosworth a welcomed classic? Some will say yes, say will say no. Is a standard Sierra a classic? Some will say yes, more will say no. So what's the solution? You let some Sierras in but not others? Who would determine which are 'worthy'? You can't do it by year either. Say the cut off is 1987. Then some Escort RS Turbos can come in, and some built a month later can't. That seems fair. And judging on the gate on the day seems perfectly feasible when you consider the queues to get in as they are. End of the day it's a big show that's getting bigger. It will attract all kinds of people and there's no feasible way to stop that from happening. Just enjoy what you like looking at and look away from things you don't

Such a shame this, I wrote Darren's feature for Classic Ford and spoke with him a few times. He was a lovely, cheerful, clever bloke who was a good businessman, and loved his family sincerely. A tragic loss

Retro Ford, Retro Cars and Performance Ford have all been sold to other publishers and will continue to be printed as per usual. The staff will more than likely be different though.

Glad everyone enjoyed it! -
In theory, no businesses should have to close if what they are proposing goes through - they're not making modifying illegal. From my understanding and a bit of research it seems what they are suggesting is that cars that don't meet original type approval will require an IVA test - which most well built cars should go through anyway. Secondly, it seems the MoT tester will be the one that determines whether a car needs to go for that IVA test, which again shouldn't be a problem for most of us. It would take a massive investment to make it work, which is why personally, I don't think it ever will. You never know though!

Depends how far you go and how much needs doing of course, but materials alone came to £500 on my recent respray which me and few mates got stuck in with.

Personally wouldn't go near a ZVH. The CVH heads were crap and if you've gone to the trouble of fitting the Zetec bottom end then it makes sense to keep the much more modern and better flowing Zetec head.

Found this in one of the Ford mags at work

He knows about it and did have plans to make a replica at one point... -
Looks good and a nice evening!

Cheers mate! Colour seemed to go down well. Luke Ginn's Escort was only just finished in time - he knows the rear wheels need to go wider, they simply ran out of time to do it. It will be going lower with the wider wheels soon
-
Cheers mate! Still recovering now! Surprised you remembered that late in the evening
-
Cheers, that was my car

Is there a list of night time entertainment
xrt_si replied to Posse's topic in CLASSIC FORD MAGAZINE-SPEAK TO THE MANAGEMENT
The Classic Ford quiz will be on in the bar after the Ford only racing ends at 8pm. We've been told live music will be on, which I assume will be a band and/or a DJ, plus there's the amusements -
Cheers mate! That's actually a bead rolled heat shield, not sure if it's staying, will have to see once it's in paint, which is where it's at right now...

The car was last taxed in 1986 which indicates that it's in storage or dead https://www.taxdisc.direct.gov.uk/EvlPo ... ution=e1s3

Very nice, what's the colour?
-
Ha! Charming! Saying that the axle still isn't ready which is slowing me down and it's getting a full colour change and paint inside, outside, in the bay and underneath so not quite on the home straight yet! See you at Pod

I know I said I would last year but this year it actually happen! The car has come along leaps and bounds over the last few months and should be ready to go in time for Central Day on April 15th...if all goes well of course, so fingers crossed! Interior is all done, and in for paint next week then just waiting for a few little bits. A little sneak peak

March 2012 - 'Readers Projects Special'
xrt_si replied to DAZZA's topic in CLASSIC FORD MAGAZINE-SPEAK TO THE MANAGEMENT
Cheers mate glad you like it! We got a great response when we asked for readers to send their projects in, it surprised us a bit! I fell in love with the cover car, too! -
Yeah a Zetec and 6 speed should go in with no work to the inner wings on either side if you position it right, but remember it needs to be in the middle as you want equal length shafts, or near enough. Resplining the clutch is handy if you know someone, though the 220mm set up a little small if you're going for big power. For the hubs - I can't remember for definate to be honest, been awhile! The bottom arms are different in a Mk1 and Mk2 but only from where the tie bars bolt up, as far as I remember the ball joints and steering side of things are the same. You've got no choice but to use the Focus cables - they are specific to the six speed gearbox so you can't use anything else. They are plenty long enough though, a mate had them in a Mk6 Fiesta and another mate had them in a Mk3 Escort.
-
Was going to say, make no mistakes a tuned Scooby is quick car. My mate had a classic shape that ran around 320 bhp and that did 8 runs of 12.9 in a row at Pod! Made me laugh that!

There's a Mk1 Fiesta in this month's Classic Ford with a six speed from an ST170 fitted. I spoke to the owner and know a couple of people or have performed this conversion in other Fords. The gearboxes are smaller than the original Fiesta four speed unit so they require no modification to the inner wing for clearance which is good. They are a lot deeper though which creates problems with clearance for the original brake servo/master cylinder set up, so normally you have to go for a bias pedal box instead, which helps as the clutch needs to be converted to hydraulic, too. No shafts fit straight up, you need custom ones made up that use an inner from a n ST170 and the outer to a Mk1 Fiesta. It's best to get hold of both sets of shafts to use as a starting point to work out how long to make them etc... A mount needs to be made for the top and back of the 'box and you need the cable change mechanism from an ST170 as well, which needs to be welded in place. Flywheel and clutch is normally a big problem, too - what have you got in mind? You also need the starter motor from an ST170 as they are specific. Hope that helps!
