Hi all! This seemed like the best place for me to be as I'm sure I'll have lots and lots of questions to ask!

I recently inherited a Capri 1600L (I think), first registered in 1973. It's been stored in a wooden garage for the past 22 years and although it's completely untouched, needs lots of work. The body & interior is in surprisingly good condition, but the wheels have fallen victim to really bad surface rust, as has anywhere else with exposed steel (engine bay, engine, underbody etc), I'm hoping that this rust doesn't go to deep and can be removed with a bit of wire wool & elbow grease.

The plan is to strip the car down, remove as much rust as possible and weld in new steel plates if necessary, then get it powdercoated and repair/replace parts when I'm re-assembling it. Is this a good plan of action?

Also - does anybody know where I could find a decent-sized lockup with electricity within 15 miles of Wigan? I currently have one for my 1978 Honda CB400, but the lack of power is a real drag. It's too small for me to work on the Capri in too. A 20ft x 10ft space (at least) would be ideal.
