carlf Posted September 5, 2013 Report Posted September 5, 2013 My 1.6 pinto is going to need a complete rebuild, so I got looking into the big American engines.Has anybody ever managed to stuff in a 351 Cleveland with a T5 box?I know it'd be ridiculous (& expensive), but I'm curious.
brettp Posted September 6, 2013 Report Posted September 6, 2013 I got a 383 chevy with a manual in mine 302 sbf would be lighter smaller and probaly cheaper also easier to find with a manual already on it
JP. Posted September 13, 2013 Report Posted September 13, 2013 The Cleveland is as wide as a big block. Its almost the same size as a Rover V8 so It should fit. ( have a 400 Cleveland and a Rover V8 so I know dimensions ). its I very tight fit and a 302W is way more easier to get away with ( brake booster/ steering ). But a 351C is superior on any 350 Chevy.
monkeymoreton Posted September 15, 2013 Report Posted September 15, 2013 i've thought about this as well but i thought a high reving pinto on twin webbers would be more fun
The Transplanter Posted September 15, 2013 Report Posted September 15, 2013 How about a Beemer S54 lump (M3) ?
carlf Posted September 17, 2013 Author Report Posted September 17, 2013 They're all decent ideas, I was just wondering whether there's anything to look out for. A high revving pinto sounds fun though, I'll probably go down that route for now (up until I find a reasonably priced 351C).I'm trying to keep all of the capri upgrades/modifications period and Ford specific, so I'm turning a blind eye to engines like the S54 and LS1.
monkeymoreton Posted September 17, 2013 Report Posted September 17, 2013 The best way to start would be head work and twin 45s and a cam
