I am very new to this forum but need advice as I have inherited a mk2 escort (1979 I think) in gold with black vinyl roof It has been kept in a garage all it's life with 47000 and hasn't been run in about 12 years until last weekend where with 20 mins effort it starts and runs like a dream!! Interior is immaculate and has tiny bits of surface rust under body but no rot or penetrating rust just needs rubbing off kinda thing! Vinyl is perfect no snags or holes all original stunning cAr can anyone guide me on its value ??

If you start replying on threads etc and make yourself known then within a short time you will be able to put pics / videos up etc

I think you need to have a certain number of posts before the forum lets you post pics. It's designed to stop people coming here and using this site as a free eBay then sodding off again! A few more posts and you'll be ok!

Okay thanks for getting bAck to me I will get some pics and would like a value for both as is and if it was back on road see if it's worth my while but it's stunning just needs a clean anything I need to check as points of ref??

The most desirable and hence valuable escort comes in 2 door guise, some prefer mk1 others mk2. As a knock on effect, prices for good four doors have also been rising. 4 or 5 years ago a friend of mine struggled to get £1000 for the very nice taxed and tested four door 1600 ghia below, now however he'd probably get more than twice that, possibly even £3k for it.

 

 

As a comparison, this mk2 4 door is also described as mint and is currently for sale on here at £3800 but with no takers as yet
