bashbymk2 Posted January 25, 2014 Report Posted January 25, 2014 I think classic ford should be for classic fords,as dvla state pre 73 cars are classed and taxed as classic cars.so if you pay for rd tax then your car is to new, what a refreshing change to see corsairs,anglias,zephrs,pilots,100es,zodiacs instead of thousands of MK2 ESCORTS Take it you don't like escorts then?? I went to classic ford last year and saw more focus, sierras and new fiestas than escorts which was a real shame as in yrs gone by it was full of lovely MK1 and MK2 ESCORTS, cortinas and Anglia's . If this news is true then I am very happy indeed.
Tall paul Posted January 26, 2014 Author Report Posted January 26, 2014 Where has this been announced then? I saw it on spacebook Scott but it was confirmed by Simon Woolley on one of the replys to all the comments about it asking if it was true.
theloudboy Posted January 26, 2014 Report Posted January 26, 2014 Why would you have the brand new cars at the classic ford show its called the classic ford show cos its for classic fords, I think that once the younger cars are in the show it will change then it will die cos there is already plenty of shows the cater for the these cars. 3
MARK FRST Posted January 26, 2014 Report Posted January 26, 2014 saying that i own both old pre 80's and 90's cars though i dont agree in 95 onwards cars. a lot of rsts are 91 and 92 cars and i feel they put just as much time and effort into there cars as the pre 90's cars i was born in the 80 and grew up with rsts but 2 of the cars i own are older than me but still love my rst i have no problem witth rst's and cossies on display just no focus and ka's etc 1
rsdaz Posted January 26, 2014 Report Posted January 26, 2014 It's classic ford show and it should be for classic fords. I have nothing against newer fords and have owned 2 focus RS in the past but I go to look at classics and I'm so glad they've made this change. I think 89 is a good cut off point too.
skeeter Posted January 26, 2014 Report Posted January 26, 2014 Some interesting, and polarized views, which is good. The argument seems to depend on your definition of the word "classic". In one camp is the definition that classic means old and set against what seems to me to a somewhat arbitrary date. My camp is the definition of classic which is "A classic is an outstanding example of a particular style, something of lasting worth or with a timeless quality." But different views is good or we would all be driving euro boxes and singing cum by yah and suchlike.... See you all there in my old classic, my other cars aren't ford so I couldn't get them in even if I consider them classic S 1
sidpf1972 Posted January 26, 2014 Report Posted January 26, 2014 I love escorts I own 2 wtf? Take it you don't like escorts then?? sidpf1972 Posted January 26, 2014 Report Posted January 26, 2014 like I wrote before,i you want a classic only ford show [which I think is good] all you have to do is bide by dvla taxation laws so any car befrore 73/74 woud become a classic. 1980s cars are not classed as classics, but obviously to people in there 20s they are classic. I think the irish guy had a good idea of having a big show with separate segments to inc all ages, because even though a 3door sierra cosworth isn't a classic surely a car like that and may other rs marques should attend so people that go to these shows who may not own a classic or know much about them can see the graduation in what was to what is
Admin Mk2Jo Posted January 26, 2014 Admin Report Posted January 26, 2014 I think as it is Classic Ford Magazine's show that whatever they decide should be at their show is what they have decided is a classic 4
sidpf1972 Posted January 26, 2014 Report Posted January 26, 2014 its simples no new fords no future classic fords or classic ford fans
garyv6100e Posted January 26, 2014 Report Posted January 26, 2014 A 25 year rollong cut off limit appears fine to me after all to many people a 25 year old car is "classic" it does not mean its old school which is what floats our boat but i can appreciate that new blood needs to be allowed into the classic ford show, it is worth remembering its the "classic ford" show not "old skool ford" show. Would i look at a 1989 sierra or MK4 escort and the answer is no but as said some people now see these as classic cars. 1
popeye Posted January 26, 2014 Report Posted January 26, 2014 I think as it is Classic Ford Magazine's show that whatever they decide should be at their show is what they have decided is a classic yes... but at the end of the day , it's bum's on seats...or .. money through the gate..
sidpf1972 Posted January 26, 2014 Report Posted January 26, 2014 my self I don't mind a 89 sierra nice cosworth or 4x4 or do I mind a 89 escortnice red rs turbo perhaps all clasics in there own right imo A 25 year rollong cut off limit appears fine to me after all to many people a 25 year old car is "classic" it does not mean its old school which is what floats our boat but i can appreciate that new blood needs to be allowed into the classic ford show, it is worth remembering its the "classic ford" show not "old skool ford" show. rallyesport04 Posted January 26, 2014 Report Posted January 26, 2014 i think the move is a good one it should be how classic ford was a few years back i aint got a issue with seeing focus rs and the likes they are a great cars but i just walk past as they dont really interest me compared to the 60's and 70's escorts an anglias etc but i have noticed in recent years i have spent less time walking around looking in the pits as less an less have interested me. i understand why focus rs etc are there as classic ford is a buisness and after all the bottom line is money hopefully the age limit will work for them as classic ford show really stood out from the crowd showing off fords iconic cars from certain eras rather than anything goes. it could work having newer cars on show by keeping them apart alot of people are very passionate about there car an get the hump about silly things like a 02 rs parked next to there 1960's lotus cortina personally it wouldnt bother me as i know that a tina will be swapped compared to a rs but go to ford fair an it will be a differant story as long as the ratio of old vs new is right classic ford will carry on being the show of the year
irishtorag Posted January 26, 2014 Report Posted January 26, 2014 again as far as most insurance companys on the emerald isle are concerned classic cut of is 20 what is classic in the true meaning of the word some Ferraris coming out of factory are classic new morgans are classic the word is defined by what people think and not by age clothes most men with women will know are defined by classic style others because they are iconic just the same as cars bikes etc but I agree its classic ford mags show so their call I fix cars for a living and tend to dislike plastic cars but I have a soft spot for iconic cars of all marques from lotus carltons to lotus escorts etc remember lads and lasses some clubs would laught at a standard mk1 escort or Cortina etc as they deem them NOT classic cars to them classic stops at lotus rs etc
cdeane74 Posted January 26, 2014 Report Posted January 26, 2014 I'm sure it'll be fine wot ever happens, as long as there's loads of classics(the usual stuff) and a few moderns, and if the suns out then everyone will be happy;) I for one won't be getting in a strop cos I've spotted a 96 fiesta with a pioneer sunstrip....) classic fords to me are cars that look out of place in modern traffic ,simple as that really 1
Admin Mk2Jo Posted January 26, 2014 Admin Report Posted January 26, 2014 I'm only going for the Sat night shenanigans ..... lol 4
sidpf1972 Posted January 27, 2014 Report Posted January 27, 2014 im looking forward to the nice weather
Arfur Posted January 27, 2014 Report Posted January 27, 2014 Just to clarify, the cut-off date for cars in the main show/club stand area is 25 years old, so pre-1990 Fords. 10

5tox Posted January 27, 2014 Report Posted January 27, 2014 i dont think it matters whats under the bonnet mate, just the year of the car 2
sidpf1972 Posted January 27, 2014 Report Posted January 27, 2014 i dont think it matters whats under the bonnet mate, just the year of the carso old cars with focus/mondeo engines in oh I see it all makes sense now
NeilT Posted January 27, 2014 Report Posted January 27, 2014 I don't mind what's being showed as long as the tracks open 2
sidpf1972 Posted January 29, 2014 Report Posted January 29, 2014 I heard somewhere that someone is going to REMAKE mk2 escort shells.will these be classed as classic cars or new cars
