Kieran Posted February 13, 2014 Report Posted February 13, 2014 Hopefully going to look at a Mk1 Fiesta on Saturday, it looks pretty clean from the pictures but where are the main places I should look for rust? 2
SmokeEm Posted February 13, 2014 Report Posted February 13, 2014 The bit between the front bumper and the rear bumper 1
SmokeEm Posted February 13, 2014 Report Posted February 13, 2014 Bonnet hinges are a known rusting point mate Also scuttle are and inner sills
over_head_cam Posted February 13, 2014 Report Posted February 13, 2014 Inner wings at the front, lower front panel, front. Strut towers, front floor pans near sills, and boot floor wells. These are bits I've seen a few times, but there may be others. A good check of the whole car is probably best 1
over_head_cam Posted February 13, 2014 Report Posted February 13, 2014 Oh, and Dave. That 'bit between the bumpers' is my line lol 1

turnover Posted February 13, 2014 Report Posted February 13, 2014 Well you don't get that much silver hair being 30 lol
l j shaw Posted February 13, 2014 Report Posted February 13, 2014 It's finding some of the panels that's getting hard...boot floors, front panel just to name a few. They do come up on the bay, but prices have risen sharply 1
Fiesta Steve Posted February 13, 2014 Report Posted February 13, 2014 As Phil says really. The 'inner wings at the front' can be tricky to spot. You need to open the bonnet and look at the inner wing under the headlight where the inner wing meets the front panel. Also, with regards to the boot floor wells, pay attention to the rear most corners, especially on the near side under the rear washer bottle.
Kieran Posted February 15, 2014 Author Report Posted February 15, 2014 Thanks, went and looked at it and it was rotten or bodged in the above places
