seaneylad Posted March 28, 2014 Report Posted March 28, 2014 Morning all info copied from advert when i bought the car: Ashley 4 branch mated to Janspeed system. In good order but new gaskets might be of benefit.Bestek ignitionType 9 five speed box3.54 diff fully rebuilt by Arrow engineeringNew prop when built2.8 struts, new lowered springs, lowering blocks at the backPrincess callipersBraided hose all round2.8 rear drumsServo fitted, new master cylinder a year or two back.Crystal headlightsAlly rad with electric fan Quick shift gear lever (home made so no rattles, buzzing or hitting the handbrake)Im currently sorting the blow from the exhaust, but im wondering what i should do next, LSD is on the list soon, but what else can i do to make it handle better or drive better? The list is endless, but i dont want to spend massive money dont mind spending £1-2,000I was tempted to buy a 4 door mk1 or mk2 escort not in as good condition and use it more of a toy, as id like to take it on the track but dont want to damage my current mk1, but looking at both costs i may just try upgrade mine to handle better and use it. Thanks
Tom E Cropp Posted March 28, 2014 Report Posted March 28, 2014 Id give it a good service make it reliable and spend the money on fuel! Enjoy it! Maybe a new set of dampers if your ones are nackered and definatly an lsd, I've recently put a 3j diff in my car absolutely love it! Worth every penny!
Admin Vista Posted March 28, 2014 Admin Report Posted March 28, 2014 2k should buy you a nicely uprated heads can you install it yourself?
welshmike Posted March 30, 2014 Report Posted March 30, 2014 A proper LSD should be top of the list, possibly a taller diff ratio to make it a bit faster through the gears seeing as you've got that 5th gear for cruising. Make sure you have good dampers and bushes and the wheel alignment is right, then go be a hooligan with your new diff 2
