Hi all,

does anybody know if it is legal for a 1974 mk1 escort to have a single wiper blade rather than the standard 2 as it would be used for road use???

if it is legal im thinking would it be worth changing the wiper motor for a single blade one!

Whats the pros and cons ???

and what motor unit would i have to buy?/?

You want wisdom? Wise Eskimo say "Don't eat yellow snow!"

As to single wiper conversions, I don't know of any reason it'd be illegal, if a modern car can pass an MOT with a single central wiper then, caveat that I'm not an MOT tester, there's no reason why an older one shouldn't.

I have to ask why though? It's quite a bit of modification and integration work to get it looking good....and all for no real technical gain. Plus, would it actually look right on an Escort?

The reason why i was thinking about it was that  now i am having the bubble arches welded on i thought it might help give it  more of a rally looking effect .

mmmmmmmmm so many possibilities! i am finding myself in a bit of a panic state as the welding is almost complete.

My engine should reach HPE later on today, and there will be all that technical stuff to come yet!

I recently saw a HPE thread of an engine they had just finished and James was asking about what colour the customer wanted the engine,

i havn`t even definatly decided on a colour for the car yet and the plan is to have it ready for the Classic Ford Show June 1st.

I suppose its not helped by the fact that since i purchased the car back in late december/early Jan i havn`t actually seen it in the flesh due to me being away at work.

I guess there is no point worrying too much the car/shell is with a friend who is over seeing the work and he owns his own garage so its in safe hands, just hope they can bring it all together in time....

A cheaper and more obvious "rally look" would be easier to get with a set of repro rally decals.  :)
