trevb Posted August 4, 2014 Report Posted August 4, 2014 Hey All, So there I was working away on the car (mk1 escy), fully stripped down the back of it, pulled out the diff, Axel, and the Ladder Bar set-up, the diff had been leaking for ages and the Panhard bracket was damaged so it was long over due... I finally got all of the new bits, then re-painted most of it (always nice to tart things up) and the re-build was well under way... I get to the point where im fitting the last 2 bolts, the one in question goes through the chassis rail and mounts the phanard barcket just under the back passenger seat, anyway I couldn't get it lined up and im wriggling it away with no luck, I can feel its nearly lined up with my fingger so i think ok I'll give it a little nudge with my foot against the axel, that'll do the trick... so re-wedged myself against the garage wall and with a quick kick everything moved forward a good inch, it was just a shame I forgot to take my finger out of the rose joint, a sharp shooting pain and quite a loss of blood later I found myself in A&E with a lesson well learnt, don't stick your fingers in places they don't belong!
over_head_cam Posted August 4, 2014 Report Posted August 4, 2014 Bloody hell Trev, I hope there aren't any bits missing!
trevb Posted August 4, 2014 Author Report Posted August 4, 2014 went straight through the top cm of my finger and nail, its still attached so just keeping them crossed that it doesnt turn black and fall off. : ) luckly its not that sore anymore so should get a good nights sleep tonight. (oh. the simple things)!
over_head_cam Posted August 4, 2014 Report Posted August 4, 2014 For the love of old Fords eh mate. Glad it's not too sore
DT36 Posted August 4, 2014 Report Posted August 4, 2014 Ooh, bet that was painful Mate. Might be worth scoring a hole into the top of your nail just until a small spot of blood appears, to take any pressure off it. I know it's no consolation, but the axle looks mint. Know what you're saying though about not sticking fingers in places where they don't belong. I was once with this girl from Merthyr and... 1
BaileyMex Posted August 5, 2014 Report Posted August 5, 2014 Ouch........... could have been worse as I was reading "so i think ok I'll give it a little nudge with my foot against the axel, that'll do the trick" I thought oh sh*t did the car come off the axle stands and squash you lol
alister.b Posted August 5, 2014 Report Posted August 5, 2014 I feel for you right now... Slightly different scenario but I once cut the tip of my finger almost off with a bread knife whilst cutting a crispy cob loaf. Complete lack of concentration. But that throbbed like hell. 1
trevb Posted August 6, 2014 Author Report Posted August 6, 2014 Thanks for all the nice comments, luckily no need for a hole in the nail, the top part has completely gone and whats left at the bottom looks as clean as anything, all seems to be healing nicely. Just going to give it a few more days till to return the car and see what mess I left behind..... : ) 1
monkeymoreton Posted August 8, 2014 Report Posted August 8, 2014 I know exactly how that feels I cut the top of my thumb off. I hope it doesn't cause you too much grief and you keep the feeling in it.
