mk2xflow Posted September 8, 2014 Report Posted September 8, 2014 cant wait till 1st October when I can get rid of the tax disc off my windscreen ,never liked the bloody thing always falling off the screen with cold weather etc , I wonder what the guys on ebay selling tax disc holders will do with the unsold items, hope they got them on sale or return lol, on the upside the old tax discs will become quite collectable I bet ,probably being sold through ebay or similar 2
mk2 mike Posted September 8, 2014 Report Posted September 8, 2014 I can't wait either. I've already bought a replica 1979 disc to stick in its place. 3

morcheen Posted September 15, 2014 Report Posted September 15, 2014 I can't wait either. I've already bought a replica 1979 disc to stick in its place. i think i will do the same.get the first tax disc the car would have had from new 2
Tall paul Posted September 17, 2014 Report Posted September 17, 2014 Still got my original 1979 one in the window! Apparently you have to register your cars with the dvla otherwise you'll get a fine. Don't know how true that is tho.
DT36 Posted September 17, 2014 Report Posted September 17, 2014 i think i will do the same.get the first tax disc the car would have had from new Put an order in yesterday for mine. 1980. Initially typed my reg into DVLA website for details, then copied it to get my replica disc made up. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/301310257468?_trksid=p2059210.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT Did struggle however with my registration plate area code which is XJO. Couldn't find where this was, so just went with a post office stamp for my home town/county. No doubt I'll be parked up one day and some spotter will say that my post office stamp on my tax doesn't match up to the reg area. I'll just be nice and polite and say "oh, never. Where was it registered then Mate, 'cos I'm jiggied if I know". 1
Danish Posted September 17, 2014 Report Posted September 17, 2014 Relisted: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/TAX-DISCS-6-QUALITY-REPLICA-REPRO-ALL-CORRECT-FONTS-YEAR-MONTH-1921-2010-/301312345902?pt=UK_Collectables_OtherTransportation_RL&hash=item46279d872e I love details like this 1
DT36 Posted September 18, 2014 Report Posted September 18, 2014 ^^^ that's who I got mine from Snap. Me too. This guy must be well chuffed with the DVLA...
stuartp Posted September 18, 2014 Report Posted September 18, 2014 well mine 'went missing' at the last car meet I attended so I too am looking forward to the end of the month when I can drive my car legally again
DT36 Posted September 21, 2014 Report Posted September 21, 2014 Going back to the vendor on Ebay, I have to say that so far his service is second to none. He sent me an electronic draft of what he had done and I asked for a tweak to the post office stamp regarding the County, as it was different back then. Without any complaint, he changed it and also offered to send me a mixture of the old and new post office stamp so I would be sure of having a historically correct disc. Disc looks really authentic on the draft version... 1
