Newbi with a mk1 escort

Hi all my names Nath I have just aquired a 1974 ford escort 1100l 2door it was in a barn down the road from me hasnt been on the road since april 1992 which happens to be when I was born. I plan to put a bmw 320d engine, box as im a fan of them and have had 4 and still have one. Brilliant engines, i plan to use the escort as a daily driver and I have a 55mile round trip commute so the diesel option is a good idea. I plan on 15inch minilites, retro style bucket seats, roll cage and bubble arches. Will be a long project one just completed a mini monster truck and a custom built motorbike. Any help or advice will be greatly received.

An ambitious project but the 320d is a straight 6 engine isn't it? That's a very long engine to squeeze under a mk1 Escort without some serious surgery to the front panel and bulkhead.

The 320d is a 4 pot its about 9-10inches smaller, the 330d is a 6pot and thats a squeeze under a bmw bonnet let alone an escort ha. There is a lad that had put a 330d engine into a mk1 van though. Cant wait to get started looking for the donor bmw atm goin to find a salvage car and strip it myself so i can label the wiring and pipes and i will have everything i need.
