Osgood Isgood Posted February 18, 2007 Report Posted February 18, 2007 Sorry guys I've been out of DIY car running for so long, this is bound to be a schoolboy problem for you lot, but help me out will you please... Took my stock 997 Anglia up to the Ace yesterday which is a run of only about 30 miles for me....anyway ran like a dream there but I have this recurring problem ....if I leave the car for more than say ten minutes but less than an hour or so, after a longish run, it is a pig to start, seems like it is flooded. It does start..... eventually and then runs perfectly again, but it is a bit of a pain...any advice?
v6pop Posted February 18, 2007 Report Posted February 18, 2007 Might be that the fuel is evaporating from the float bowl due to the heat transfer from the inlet/exhaust manifolds. Check how hot the carb is getting when you stop after a run. Have you got an insulating spacer between the carb and manifold? Ive had a couple of anglias in my time and not had any hot start problems,usually the opposite,getting the bugger to start from cold!! Just had another thought,check the float hieght just incase its flooding it abit,more apparent with a hot engine.
