navigatoroneill Posted February 18, 2007 Report Posted February 18, 2007 planning on doing my driving test in my Mk1 Capri. i'll need to get it ready by fixing up a few things. the passengers seat belt isn't in the best shape, so i may need to repalce it. i reckon i'm going to come across problems with fitting cos of the way the internal workings of the inetia belts. can anyone shed any light on replacing these belts? harnesses are sweet but won't be going in the car cos its just not that type (yet?).
MK5 Posted February 18, 2007 Report Posted February 18, 2007 i wouldn't recommend taking your test in your own car - i took my 2nd test in my own car, and failed as soon as the examiner saw it
arch Posted February 18, 2007 Report Posted February 18, 2007 relli y did he fail u wat was wrong with the car coz i was thinkin doin it but my exuast is abit low wont get over the bumps
60ftman Posted February 18, 2007 Report Posted February 18, 2007 My youngest daughter (kissmyrs on this forum) took her test in her own mk2 Fiesta. She'd failed three times before in driving school cars. You do need to read the bumff about what you need to do to the car though (extra mirrors etc) as if this isn't done they'll bomb you straight away. Good luck!!
RedditchJay Posted February 19, 2007 Report Posted February 19, 2007 Use the school car......... examiners hate owned cars older than a few years old....
adam.wilkinson Posted February 19, 2007 Report Posted February 19, 2007 As above, I personally can't think of anything cooler But all the testers seem to think they are home grown SVA testers and just because the car is older they assume that it must also be unsafe
Mr Sam Posted February 19, 2007 Report Posted February 19, 2007 ..........make sure you get it sideways if they try to fail you i took mine in my own micra, damn thing jumped out of gear when i gave it some beans i explained the gearbox was cream crackered ..... well we thought it was but the cars still going 2 years later
john_3.0s Posted February 19, 2007 Report Posted February 19, 2007 that is so cool m8, i think u should be giving the examiner a lesson - OLD SKOOL STYLE Your 3 manouvers could be: 1) lighting uo the back end off the traffic lights 2) roundabout power slideing 3) handbrake turn in the road, none of the 3 point rubbish
Mr Sam Posted February 19, 2007 Report Posted February 19, 2007 3) handbrake turn in the road, none of the 3 point rubbish its now called turn in the road and you can take as many points as you want apparenty...... i think you should do it in one with just the right foot
MK5 Posted February 19, 2007 Report Posted February 19, 2007 relli y did he fail u wat was wrong with the car coz i was thinkin doin it but my exuast is abit low wont get over the bumps car was a G plate Toyota Supra - 3.0 turbo charged bright red sports car, with about 280bhp... examiner shat himself at the thought of a learner in something that powerful he deliberately took me on a route that encompassed every speed bump in Plymouth!!
Mr Sam Posted February 19, 2007 Report Posted February 19, 2007 bloomin eck mates just got an NA version and blown it up so were on the hunt for a turbo lump
