Insurance valuation.

As above really, I'm hoping this is the right place to ask for some advice as far as what figure to give for an insurance valuation, looking online I see that the prices have climbed recently but the variation between them, the lack of pre-facelift cars and the lack of autos for sale is making it hard for me to judge.

 

The car is a 69 capri 1600 gt xlr auto with 44k miles, it cost me nothing to buy as it was family owned from new and rusty when I aquired it at 15, roll on 20 years and its just had a full on restoration, all rot chopped out and lead loading where needed rather than plastic filler. The resoration has been a quality job by someone that works on classics including a lot of porsche and ferrari cars, it hasnt been cheap or quick and has taken over a year to complete. Everything is original as it was delivered on the day of sale (minus the wing mounted mirrors)

I'm guessing I will have to go through one of the clubs for a definite valuation but looking for some rough ideas so I can start collecting some quotes in.

let me rephrase the question, I have no idea on the values, a google search just confuses the matter with prices ranging from 5k-15k on facelift models, so If you were to go out and buy this car, what would you expect to pay?

For a mint, high spec but small engined pre facelift, I would guess at around £12k in today's market.

 

There are a few available from dealers at higher prices, but classic car dealers are no different to modern car dealers in terms of bumping the price up by a few thousand. This prefacelift 2.0GT for instance
