aaronblue Posted November 1, 2015 Report Posted November 1, 2015 Hi all I'm going to start making my roll cage for my Anglia but want to get the base plates sorted first, I'm using mild steel cds tubing FIA approved for the cage but not sure what thickness to use on the base plates?? Any help??
katana Posted November 2, 2015 Report Posted November 2, 2015 All the info is here......http://www.doublegmotorsport.com/rsprep/02-Safety.pdf Bigger footprint in this case, is no bad thing!
colr6 Posted November 2, 2015 Report Posted November 2, 2015 Like Katana says a good foot print is a must. I stregthened a good sized area on the shell first including going up the inner sill.welded plates halfway up A and B posts with captive m10 nuts behind. Piece or 3" channel cut to contour of rear arch so you have flat surface to bolt to again captive nuts behind channel. I made hoop two back stays and diagonal all in one piece. Front cage in three pieces using welded on bolt flanges. Fitted plates to cage to match captive nuts on A and B post for extra strength plus it helps the cars rigidity. Hope this helps Colin
