Hi Guys,

I know it's not a ford, but a bit of nostalgia for other classic marques never hurts.

It ultimately gave birth to both the Spitfire and GT6, but the Triumph Herald very nearly didn’t get built at all.

Back in 1959, Standard-Triumph couldn’t find anyone to build the new car’s body, so ended up simply attaching individual panels to the chassis...and the rest is history.

In the latest in our series looking at cult classic cars, we reminisce about the Triumph for all seasons...

I like that, very interesting, the old triumph factory was a couple of minutes from my parents house, it's a sainsbury now! Our old next door neighbour had a vitesse, and at the Milton Keynes retro meet someone had put mx5 running gear in one. All completely useless information,

What can you say about a Triumph herald.....Disaster!!! Wouldn't go round corners, rotted ar an alarming rate, two presses of the clutch one to take the thrust up on the crank the next one to get a gear. Awfull things to put clutches in. It must have been a camacarsy pilot who thought of putting a six cylinder in one branded the Vitesse. Glad most of them have been turned into washing machines

I used to work with a guy who'd used one as a donor on a Lotus 7 type kit car. Drum brakes all round, and weighed nothing, so it would lock up as soon as look at them, it was truly scary!
