Admin Vista Posted January 6, 2016 Admin Report Posted January 6, 2016 Just been to see the new Star Wars movie. Fan bloody tastic! Millennium Falcon back with all the bells and whistles! X-Wing fighters, Tie fighters, even a Death Star of sorts. Most importantly though, good characters, story lines and humour. It felt like it was 1977 all over again! Looking forward to the next installment already! 1
dalmarshall Posted January 6, 2016 Report Posted January 6, 2016 I might have to go see this on my own......The missus refuses point blank to come with me!!!! I wish I'd kept all of my star wars toys, I'd be a rich man now lol!!!
khanlad Posted January 6, 2016 Report Posted January 6, 2016 Do you not think it was a new hope all over again? I think if it was a stand alone film it would be great but following on ? A bit like the new (or old now) sweeney film that came out, as a stand alone film would be okay, but they aren't Regan and Carter! . Where have these new baddies come from, who is the girl, why does she have some connection with the force? I suppose it allows more films to now be made? Solo, chewy, and the falcon superb though
Admin Vista Posted January 6, 2016 Author Admin Report Posted January 6, 2016 Yes, the plot had familiar undertones, but I don't care it was sufficiently different to be a film in its own right and had none of the blatant merchandising rubbish and stupid characters (Jar Jar Binks) of the prequel trilogy. As to the where the bad guys came from, they would have still been around post Return of The Jedi. Cutting off the head of the snake still leaves a very large body that just needs a new leader.
Gareth62 Posted January 6, 2016 Report Posted January 6, 2016 Don't want to read this Not seen film yet Spoilers Spoilers Spoilers Spoilers Spoilers Nooooooooooooooooooo no no lol 1
Admin Vista Posted January 6, 2016 Author Admin Report Posted January 6, 2016 Go and see it, reckon you'll love it.
Gareth62 Posted January 7, 2016 Report Posted January 7, 2016 I want to. Me the wife and 4 kids comes in a bit pricey around £50 May just wait for DVD and get it in 3D for £20 ish the spend the £30 I saved on the Cortina
SmokeEm Posted January 7, 2016 Report Posted January 7, 2016 I watched it in 3D Last week. Like Scott says, I was 7 all over again! Loved it!
86FordCapri Posted January 7, 2016 Report Posted January 7, 2016 Been putting this off as been hearing mixed reviews about it. Not much going on this weekend so might go along and relive the youth.
mk2 mike Posted January 7, 2016 Report Posted January 7, 2016 I've not heard a bad word about it from anyone that's seen it. I liked it. Definitely more links to the originals than those middle three rubbish films that shouldn't be allowed to be associated with the name! 1
khanlad Posted January 7, 2016 Report Posted January 7, 2016 You've got to watch it, as per mike, much better than the first three, which were the last three!
Admin Vista Posted January 7, 2016 Author Admin Report Posted January 7, 2016 And I'd also go as far as to say it needs to be seen at the cinema, the big screen adds an extra special element to some of the shots.
aardvark101 Posted January 10, 2016 Report Posted January 10, 2016 I saw this at the IMAX in 3d, the space flight scenes are ridiculously good, as to the plot it did seem somewhat contrived in places, it was a little like when your read a book that is the next in the series and it keeps referencing things that happened in the previous novels just in case you didnt read those ones. However its a means to an end, i enjoyed it tremendously and look forward to the next one. "Hello im C-3po by the way, oh goodbye"
