  1. Think you missed the point, be it Turkey China, Russia or anywhere it's a FAKE, someone will try to pass it off as the real deal, and someone could end up being killed, it may look like an Escort but it's still a copy. I think we have all heard the horror stories about fakes from China. Yes it could be a better option than a bad restoration job. What safety tests and crash test have these chassis been put though? It's good that panels and doors are now available. I wish this was the case for the Cortina, these panels are getting so hard to find now. Plus don't slag off my metal work or fabrication skills without knowing me, If it's not right it goes in the bin. Hats off to them I wouldn't even try to do what they are doing but you have to admit some of it did looked a bit rough in the photos.
  2. The chassis and wheel tubs look a bit naff http://bbs.rsownersclub.co.uk/showthread.php?232168-Escort-rally-prep-From-turkey I don't think I would go near one myself have an odd panel made yes but not a whole car
  3. On caravans it recommended to change them every 5 years
  4. As title I'm looking for a Mk3 nearside wheel tub cash waiting or could swap for an OE NOS four door Mk5 wheel tub
  5. Did you get sorted as I need one too Ex-Press told me it will be a six month wait.... Anyone else looking for wheel tubs?
  6. Yes, he can come and play with my toys. but my car no chance just yet
  7. Janey, you where asking about DIY powder coating. My kit cost me around £130 from Frost, and I get good results from it. You just need an: Old oven (Cant be used for food ever again once used for Powder coating) Away to clean work piece ( Sandblaster ) or ( Good old elbow Grease followed with an acetone dip) Powder coat gun or kit My 12yr old lad had a go the other week for his schools art homework He learned How to cut out How to clean up and take off sharp edges How to spot weld How to fold and bend thin sheet metal How to punch holes How to sand blast How to powder coat, he was meant to do it red but the only colours I had was orange or black. Think he learned more in one night in there with me than a whole year in the school metal shop
  8. I want to. Me the wife and 4 kids comes in a bit pricey around £50 May just wait for DVD and get it in 3D for £20 ish the spend the £30 I saved on the Cortina

  13. Mk3 Cortina stolen from Medway Kent area 2/1/2016 1972 1600xl 4-door tawny brown Contact police immediately if spotted, thanks
  14. Have been finding them or making them as I've gone along the only panel I could do with picking up is the rear slam/catch/loading panel for the rear and now once more this wheel tub I have been very lucky so far and all panels have been OE / NOS and have all fitted well.
  15. She will be as close to stock as I can get her, the only things I can't make my mind up on is the interior door panels and twin or single lights she had L trim when new but for the passed 30 yrs has had GXL door panels inside. And I have some twin lights and a grill in the garage somewhere. I'm definitely keeping the bench seat and dash handbrake said this from day one.... I know what she looked like as new because I can remember my dad picking it up brand new 44 years ago......
  16. She's coming on well, but I've hit a brick wall Had bought a new wheel housing for the nearside cut all mine out to find the new one I had picked up was for a Mk5 not Mk3 the guy who sold it to me had put some masking tape over the ford part number and wrote mk 3 on it After doing the other side and that just dropped in couldn't work out why it was being a pig to fit till I pulled the tape off So now looking out for a new wheel tub only took 3 years to find the last
  17. I have the same problem I'm logged in on the PC I registered on but other devices can't log in saying it's the wrong password I don't want to log out incase I can't log back in
  18. I believe she's the last in the country of her kind, she was a special order vehicle so the body is slightly different with different mounts underneath to a standard Cortina as she was fitted with a bench seat in the front, and a dash handbrake. As far as I have found out there where 4 saloon cars left with bench seats one now scrapped and gone one standing in a garden rotting away, one in storage awaiting renovation and one in Ireland on the road, but have yet to hear of an estate, to have survived the years.
  19. Yep I've been on her for around 3 years so far
