jdawg Posted January 8, 2016 Report Posted January 8, 2016 Hello everyone. Just joined and would like some advice. I have given my Mk2 RS2000 to my daughter and she wants to use it for sprints, hillclimbs, auto solos etc . The car has just come back from the body shop as a rust free and solid shell with outboard turrets etc. We are going 4 link, slipper spring, pan hard rod at the rear. I have the 4 link kit and would like some advice on the welding techniques please- I have Tig or Mig but prefer to use the Tig. Should the axle brackets be tacked or welded all around. Any advice welcome!
SmokeEm Posted January 8, 2016 Report Posted January 8, 2016 Tacked 1st then slowly seamed to avoid distortion in my opinion.
HotRodMatt Posted January 8, 2016 Report Posted January 8, 2016 I'm not sure if this applies to the four link kit but when I welded my anti tramp and panhard rods in I did it with the vehicle weight on the suspension, ie axle stands under the axle casing.
John escort mk1V6 Posted January 8, 2016 Report Posted January 8, 2016 I would say if you going for a 4 link , than take also a watts linkage instead of a panhard.
