Well this Is happening for long time now in Holland. They can clone contactless keys from about 20 feet while you are just paying at the gas stations corner. A partner with a remote system gets all the key data by a router, gets in the car and drives away while you just grabs a coffee...

 

My colleague Beemer 1 series M 3.0 just got nicked a few weeks back this way while he was visiting friends in an apartment. He then figured out why all the owners with contactless keys use steering wheel locks ( the big yellow ones ) these days...
