Hi, just a quick one... I have a Sealey Supermig 150... any guidance for a good setting for car panels??

 

Currently set at wire speed 6

Current 1

Volt/amp? MIN

 

any help greatly appreciated!!! Thanks

The best way is get some metal same as you are fitting and play with the settings and go by the sound, if the wire is bouncing speed to fast blowing holes amps to high and or wire speed to slow. Practice and more practice makes perfect.

i remember the first plate i stuck on some 30 years ago turned and said to my old dad god rest his sole that looks good dont it and he give it a slap with a hammer and pulled it straight off lol

 

good luck bud as above but it takes time to learn to do it propley practice on stuff you dont want first

Yeah they say a good mig weld sounds like bacon sizzling in a pan. Make sure the metal is clean and free of oil/grease or it will never come out right. I run my mig on the second lowest amperage setting for bodywork. I find it gives better penetration. Remember to not try and do a run on thin stuff as it'll just blow through. Use a "pulse" technique and try to keep some heat in it as you move along.

The smell of bacon butties whilst welding beats the smell of burning interior as you've forgotten to move the carpet....which you only find out once you're under the car and start welding...!!!
