BTM_FDR Posted September 21, 2016 Report Posted September 21, 2016 Hi, just a quick one... I have a Sealey Supermig 150... any guidance for a good setting for car panels?? Currently set at wire speed 6 Current 1 Volt/amp? MIN any help greatly appreciated!!! Thanks
colr6 Posted September 21, 2016 Report Posted September 21, 2016 The best way is get some metal same as you are fitting and play with the settings and go by the sound, if the wire is bouncing speed to fast blowing holes amps to high and or wire speed to slow. Practice and more practice makes perfect. 1

BTM_FDR Posted September 22, 2016 Author Report Posted September 22, 2016 Thanks for your help dudes, I will try messing about for a bit, I heard something about frying bacon when listening out for a steady weld
HotRodMatt Posted September 22, 2016 Report Posted September 22, 2016 Yeah they say a good mig weld sounds like bacon sizzling in a pan. Make sure the metal is clean and free of oil/grease or it will never come out right. I run my mig on the second lowest amperage setting for bodywork. I find it gives better penetration. Remember to not try and do a run on thin stuff as it'll just blow through. Use a "pulse" technique and try to keep some heat in it as you move along.
Tackleberry Posted September 26, 2016 Report Posted September 26, 2016 The smell of bacon butties whilst welding beats the smell of burning interior as you've forgotten to move the carpet....which you only find out once you're under the car and start welding...!!!
