Danish Posted December 10, 2016 Report Posted December 10, 2016 I'm looking at buying an Emerald 'K6' ECU - initially to run a Pinto, with either an ex-Sierra manifold, or a Jenvey twin throttle body - the DCOE type. Later I want to use it with an ST225 T5 engine. I'll be using it mostly for road driving, but with occasional trips to Santa Pod. I wondered if anyone had any of experience of them to share, before I place an order?
Danish Posted December 14, 2016 Author Report Posted December 14, 2016 Ah, 100 viewers and no one has any opinions?
katana Posted December 14, 2016 Report Posted December 14, 2016 Can't give a review as I haven't got one but it was on my buy list until a DTA came along at a steal it price! From playing with the software it seems to be a capable and easy to use unit but can't do sequential sparks from memory?
Danish Posted December 14, 2016 Author Report Posted December 14, 2016 Thanks Katana. I'll check about the spark - the T5 has an odd number of cylinders so that has to have sequential.
katana Posted December 14, 2016 Report Posted December 14, 2016 Thanks Katana. I'll check about the spark - the T5 has an odd number of cylinders so that has to have sequential. Just checked and the latest K6 has 6 ign. drivers so should be able to handle 5 cylinders sequential ok 1

Danish Posted December 16, 2016 Author Report Posted December 16, 2016 Anything that Dave Walker has touched is usually gold! Thanks for that. He does seem good - we've been swapping emails all week, and I think I have a list of what I need now.
SmokeEm Posted December 16, 2016 Report Posted December 16, 2016 For the money, there is nothing better out there. I would want him to set it up himself though coz I'm like that lol 1
Danish Posted December 17, 2016 Author Report Posted December 17, 2016 Ah, while I'm very happy for a rolling road guy to tune things up, I want to do most of the work myself. Currently I have an ex-Sierra ignition system, a Luminition rev limiter and an electric fan thermostat module. As a first stage I'm planning to replace all of those with the Emerald unit, as well as hooking up a lambda sensor and an ODB2 diagnostic port. I'll move onto fuel injection after all that lot is working.
roosie Posted December 17, 2016 Report Posted December 17, 2016 Emerald is the only ecu I run on all my cars . Dave or Jon are top mappers . Do it Sent from my SM-G935F using Tapatalk 1
Danish Posted December 17, 2016 Author Report Posted December 17, 2016 Thanks for all the replies, I ordered this evening. 1
The Transplanter Posted December 20, 2016 Report Posted December 20, 2016 Has plenty of features for a road car, and can be configured to run pretty much any amount of cylinders. I have the K6 on my VR6 Turbo, and does the job well enough 1
