johnnysomersett Posted February 26, 2007 Report Posted February 26, 2007 I havent got a manual for my MkII Consul and the (original) air filter is tbh completely f****d. until i get a new one (to fit on the 4-stage carb =) ) whats the best way of cleaning it as its a sealed unit (from what i can tell!!) anyone know how i could get over this one??
Cookie Posted February 26, 2007 Report Posted February 26, 2007 Blow an airline through it, if its a standard paper one, i would'nt use anything else as it will fall apart.
johnnysomersett Posted February 27, 2007 Author Report Posted February 27, 2007 nah, its got lie wire-wool style stuff in it.....ill post a pic later. its strange!
orionmojo Posted February 27, 2007 Report Posted February 27, 2007 k&n sell a filter spray, and filter maintenance spray
105Nick Posted February 27, 2007 Report Posted February 27, 2007 It'll be the same as my anglia one, its like a cake tin. After pulling the airbox off the carb undo the screw at the top, and the two halves will prise apart if you stuck yopur fingers in the hole underneath and pull on the intake tube. You can then remove the wire from inside and scrub it with petrol to clean it, it'll be good as new. Oh and make sure its dry before you put it back.
johnnysomersett Posted March 3, 2007 Author Report Posted March 3, 2007 nah its not like an anglia one, its a cylinder shape....no screws no clips...nothing!! looks like a sealed unit but it must have been put together somehow!!
