I was talking to  guy in work who has a robin hood kit car with 16 xf and twin 40s. He bought the car as a project. The car will start and run it's a bugger to start he says and the exhaust 4 2 1 glows red hot at the collectors. The exhaust is a cherry bomb.

I said timing but could it be the webers being be too lean.

Any thoughts. I will ask him for some videos.

So do you it's too far advanced. The engine spins over but a bugger to start. He sent me a picture I can share and all of the manifold 1600 sport 4 branch type is red, at the 4 2 1 collectors it's glowing.

Not trying to be smart but has he got a workshop manual - if he has, why hasn't he read it and yes, obviously twin 40's aren't stock for a 1600 xflow but baseline jetting isn't exactly 'secret squirrel' type info on the WWW! Even using Twincam jetting would likely ballpark it? If its a project, I would have hoped he has at least some mechanical abilities to fault find problems, diagnose and correct? Next simplest solution is rolling road dyno it - may cost £200 but should come out spot on!

He's only had about 2 weeks. No harm in asking is there ffs

If you'd started with that first up you might not have got such a terse response - you brought the subject up!

So, Mark and is locost 16xf kit car are now best of friends. The engine is stock 1600 sport apart from twin dcoe.

The dizzy was a lucas side entry and he said was old. Fitted a std xflow fiesta electronic one and sorted.  Maybe it was dizzy or timing...or both
