Chriscross Posted August 25, 2024 Report Posted August 25, 2024 Has anyone got any suggestions for securing the dipstick tube into the block of my 205 Pinto block. It's so slack and pissing oil out and it's driving me mad! thanks.
Chriscross Posted August 25, 2024 Author Report Posted August 25, 2024 sorted it now, I removed the oil catcher can and put back a new pcv valve as per original, engine never liked that. Changed back to the oil catcher can with the atmospheric breather filter and no more oil pissing out past the tube. Dipstick tube stil loose but hopefully sort that with instant gasket.
Miniliteman Posted August 25, 2024 Report Posted August 25, 2024 Is the tube damaged / bent where it sits in the block? Std engines do need pressure in the crank case / sump to prevent blow-by of the rings. Blow-by of the rings will dillute the oil with petrol.
Chriscross Posted August 25, 2024 Author Report Posted August 25, 2024 Its not a standard engine, it's a 205 block bored out to 95mm, 2.1ltr with a RL31 cam. The dipstick tube is straight where it goes into the block but I've ordered a replacement from Burton now.
Chriscross Posted August 25, 2024 Author Report Posted August 25, 2024 The issue was that I had no vacuum connection so the crankcase pressure was blowing the oil out of the dipstick tube, so I've reinstated this (see photo) then connected that to the oil catcher which has a baffle/ filter and a breather on top and the return back to the oil filler cap. I'll just gauge how much oil it collects and if necessary tee in a pipe back to the sump, but It's not as if it's going to be on a track at full bore so hoping to just drain minimal amounts. 1
