Hi Mike,

It's a long story and one featured in both Classic Ford and RetroFord Magazine. In a nutshell yes Ford did indeed create a 1600GT estate (or Mexico).

They were based on heavy duty export shells that are not unlike type 49 shells according to AVO. Two mexicos in primrose yellow and one RS 2000 in white estates are in the UK. My own car has a very interesting history and one that I have done a lot of research on. It is an heavy duty export shell and has all the same elements as the other three cars. Sadly my car is missing tge second identifier plate and was the subject of export in RHD  and then finished in Portugal as LHD. It was reinported in 2016 and converted back. Its original paint code on the ID tag is primer, interestingly. It had been sat on a 'shelf' for sometime.

At the end of the day it is what it is as I have done some of my own period mods.

If you want to know more then please feel free to message me.
