Hi All. I'm going to come clean and say that my primary interest is in the 711M Crossflow engine and how to get the best from it. So apologies, as I don't actually own a complete Old Skool Ford car - just the engine & gearbox.  I believe the engine was originally from an Escort Mk1 Mexico which was rallied back in the 70's before being transplanted into my car.

The spec is 1760 cc, A2 cam, twin 40's with a 2000e semi close g/box.  Nothing special really but it is a lovely, lovely engine which I use for both road and competitive hillclimb events, often competing against Mk1 & 2 Escorts.  A beautiful Mk1 Twincam won last weekend at Loton Park - fantastic car.

I read most of the Crossflow related posts in the 'engine room' forum, so thx to all the contributors there.

I do not know how to make a Kent crossflow to 1760cc. Is there such a long stroke crankshaft wich could make the capacity numbers? You can get as much as for limit on bore size, i think about 85 mm. But no further for rebuild? A2 cam, is old school but still a fine one to match the period days in time. However were are you within rev limits?

85mm pistons gives 1760cc.  I'm running with Accralites now as I detonated a piston during a test day 7 years ago. There are plenty of people that don't recommend such large overbore but as it was done back in the early 80's, I guess the block is OK with it. It will rev to 6,500 but 6,200 is more than enough as the power is dropping over that.

85mm on a standard stroke 1600? Bit thin on the line tho. I would not reccomend such overbore. Block gets weaker by that.

Cause this if need rebuild, it is over. Or re-sleeve block . I do not fancy a limit overbore anyhow. Just lil' less, at 1640 cc wich makes the

grunt as well as that overkill bore engine. for sure.  But ok, don' t rev it to much.

@MotoI have a 1300 with a +90 bore 711M block, 1360 cc. BCF 3 Kent cam. Burton pistons, lightened and balance crank, rods, flywheel, rocker gear with spacers, 32/36 DGV Weber, big valve ported Mexico head, Harris air filter. Standard 1100 4 speed box and 3.9 axle, I like a short stroke revving engine. A bit too cammy in town, makes your ears bleed on a motorway, and likes spinning nearside dog dish hub caps off the 6J Weller steels, but a hoot on back roads. not fast but quick. When originally built we lived in the Yorkshire Dales and had a 1:6 hill one way, and a 1:5 the other, and the nearest motorway was 30 miles away. Built for is environs.
