so glad shes got an MOT got my lovely reg for another year if and its a big if i get another car id quite like to transfer this reg

 

anyway been wanting todo this for a while so was in the garage and spotted numbers/letter 59p so got a load

 

 

if its not obvious what ive done......

 

roughly measured a reg plate, very roughly marked the dimensions out in a guestimated center of the bonnet and given a coat of radiator enamle

 

would it be legal to drive with just this or will i have to keep a convensional plate lashed to the front end somewhere

I hate to pee on your bonfire matey, but the backing of a number plate has to be relective by law. There is nothing wrong with the didgits you are using as long as they are the right size and spacing.

 

If you want a stick on plate for your bonnet, you can get these made legally with the reflective backing. BUT, to be totally honest, I really don't see anything wrong if it's a front plate. Just see how it goes mate

Yes agree with the above , just buy the stick on reflective backing for the letters and you'll be ok

You will, if the police can be bothered, get pulled and they will issue you with a ticket.. take this , and your car to an MOT station with the correct number plate mounted in the correct position for the year of the car and the MOT staion will stamp the paper, Return to the police station and show them the paperwork ..

 

Think its a £15 fine and £15 fee to the MOT station ...

 

They may have change the laws so dont take that as gospel

To be legal, I beleive the front plate must be vertical, ie: not flat on the bonnet.

I've seen loads of cars with plates on the bonnet who get away with it, but it only takes a bored copper
