well I know sounds tough price but take the figures and fact man couldn't do work himself

shell ,blasting ,etching,fab work, painting = 10/12k

cossie engine about 5k

strip engine rebuild ?? 4 k?

jenvies and mang system ? 3.5k

gear box?

live axle ?

wheels tyres

all alloy products

interior retrimming

putting car together

and the hidden xtras

not much change from 57k euro

average grp4 rally car build which isn't show condition 50/60k euro

btw im not selling the car or saying its good price im just adding costs of the build in my head

I wont knock anymans prices and personally id prefer an rs1800 for that cash

sounds big money till you add the costs of labour parts etc

Ah, that one. It's been for sale around that price for a very long time. I think in fact, having done one myself to this sort of spec recently, that irishtorag's build cost estimates are a little conservative. If you want to build one yourself to this sort of standard it would you probably cost you quite a bit more than he's asking but is the finished article worth the sum of its parts? It is if you don't want to wait or build your own.

That's what im saying vista

I know I under costed because I unfortunately build a standard car

to me the car cost 8k in total from buying to finish

but and its a big but if I priced the time I spent and the running around electric

and if I didn't have to tools I would had to buy

So add it all up and I guess mine would come close to if not over 20k

Would I pay that ! NO!

Harsh on my own car even though its show condition but its the truth ...

I havnt seen the escort mk1 in question but ive been told its concours condition and probably work a lot more

but the down turn has hurt a lot of the market..

I agree in the fact if I had the cash and wanted the car in said finish yes it is a bargain as such

Mmm, nice. I particularly like the way the gauges go to maximum when the ignition goes on. I'll have to think how I can do that.  :)

However, I think whenever you build a modified car you're restricting the market who will buy it from you and that's going to affect the price. I accept that on my own project I'm making mods which cost money and devalue the car. I'll just have to make sure I don't need to sell it, as I'll struggle to find someone wanting exactly the same mods as me.

That is a nice car though!

I honestly think its better scraping

and a realistic value for a mexico or an rs or a standard mk2 or mk1 is under 10k

but the market value is driven by how much a buyer wants to spend or what they feel its worth

In order to bring values down labour and material costs would need to drastically lower

and on the same breath could you tell and engine builder his 3k build is over priced

or body man his resto is over priced.

As vista said in and earlier post tbh it wouldn't cover the costs of build .

Also think everyone has their idea of what they want to pay for a car

Im not defending stans car or price but you wouldn't build a house at 500k build price and sell at 50k

well I wouldn't id flatten it first
