Fantastic selection there Skoty, Buddy Holly is probably my favourite artist. Love Glen Miller and wartime songs as well!
  4. I would set up an account with a gas supplier rather than spending loads on the disposable bottles if I was you. Seems expensive to lay it all out at once but it lasts for ages and I'm pretty sure it will work out cheaper unless you're just doing a bit here and there. As for sheets of metal you can get stuff from motor factors but the stuff I got from there was about 0.8mm. Way too thin. I'm using an old tumble dryer at the mo, its perfect at about 1.2mm

  6. I'd buy that... It's tax exempt
  7. I guess it depends what you get enjoyment from, personally I like driving a classic daily, so I like it to look a bit crap. I don't want to worry about it being scratched or stolen, and I would be paranoid if I owned a car that looked as good as your escort. I love seeing cars that are that nice but I wouldn't dare own one. But I imagine that a lot of other folks would get absolutely no pleasure from the kind of sheds I drive
  8. I presume you have the relevant block/ head numbers by now? I've got one so I could check for you if not. I've read a bit about this engine on the 105 speed forum and unfortunately it seems that its rarity isn't really reflected in its value. I'll be interested when you arrive at a figure.
  9. Is OSF status set in stone at models in production before 1980 a la the pre '73 historic tax class? Because quite a few folk on here seem to want to make that a rolling 25 or 30 year thing.... Just saying Doesn't bother me either way as I only buy cars that get free tax
  10. When I get to this stage I'm going to have a go at this: http://coachpainting.info/ It will probably look like turd when I'm finished but £100 sounds a lot better to me than £2K! Also avoids mess, overspray, and the need for masking off
  11. It is a shame that you didn't pay through paypal in the normal way because then you would have had all the power. I manage an ebay store through my work and so I know how little influence the seller has if a buyer complains to ebay. There are a lot of idiots on there but I have always managed to get problems sorted when I've been buying stuff because ebay always sides with the buyer.
  12. So glad I asked on here before I did anything drastic, It's reassuring to know that everyone has these wobbles. I've well and truly got my interest in the car back - by coincidence I found the advert that the third owner (I'm the fifth, the fourth owner did a load of bodges to get it through an MOT) put on turbosport when he was selling the car and he is sending me photos of the work he did and has told me some of the history of the car. I like a bit of history He said he it had a few old MOTs with it when he sold it but they must have got lost along the way
  13. Bummer! Would have gone to this if I'd seen it in time, it's just down the road from me! I need to spend more time on here! Was it a good night?
  14. Thanks fellas! Hope to get it done by CF show 2014. I would say 2013 but I'm a pretty slow worker!
  15. Thanks for the encouragement guys Yeah I'm going to stick with it, after all I bought it because I absolutely love cortinas, and I bet it will be a lot more satisfying when it's done than buying a pristine finished car. Thanks for the help, I just went off the rails for a bit!
