  1. My Uncle is seriously contemplating selling his, it's located in East Yorkshire, unmolested totally standard still with 4 speed manual, 1600 Ghia. Think he's after bit under 5 1/2 k for it but would need to check. Pm me if you're interested and I'll send you his details (I'll check back with him 1st).
  2. With a very heavy heart due to a whole host of family/time/money commitments I've decided it's the right and best decision to sell my mk2 Escort shell. I've owned it for 6 years + and when I bought it, it was in a very sorry state indeed. I've got to get the front end rolling again before it goes as I've been sorting out the suspension. It's a 1.3GL manual on the log book. Obviously selling it with this ID and reg number still attached to it. Log book is in my name and has been for the past 6 years, I am only the second name on the logbook!!. Although it's a GL shell, as it has been restored I have had every strengthening point and bracket added as per a proper RS shell. The hole transmission hole has been moved back to take a type 9, the bracket has been moved back and reshaped to suit, not just simply cut through as in the normally the case with these conversions. The car has had, replaced doors with new skins, a good second hand boot and bonnet, part new floors repairs to A pillars on both sides, new front wings, new sills, heater bowl removed and "cake tin" underneath reparied, painted and then a new heater bowl put back in. Repairs around window openings, new wing rails, new front wings. The back end was still in very good condition and just needed a bit of repair to the original rear arches which are still in very good nick. The shell was sandblasted and all holes repaired with steel not just filled. The car has been recently had a full respray, under sealed underneath. The car is finished in signal yellow with matte black underneath, inside and around the windows to the side. I'm being totally honest as I hate these "how much is it worth" messages as much as the next guy so here are the minor bad points. I sent away the strut to plate for the chassis number stamping on (the number is still on the original inner wing underneath) when it came back it was upside down. This is still the case as I needed to get in onto the car ready for painting as it had been booked in. The car had been lifted up by a forklift at some point in its life while it was at the yard where I bought it from. (please note the car has not been written off or scrapped I have had a vehicle check carried out to confirm this) A lot of repair work has been carried out to straighten this back out and make sure the glass fits in correctly, but this has meant strenghtening strps have been added to the inside of the roof to stop it bouncing. The paint work needs a couple of touch ups from where it was transported back to me and got chipped. If you look down the flanks of the car in certain lights it does need the odd minor depression taking out to make it 100% perfect. The front fins had to be cut out, set back and pop rivetted to fit in the alloy radiator which will be included with the sale. Overall this is a great shell that has had no expense spared on it.....which unfortunately means I can not afford to finish the car. I've attached a link to the resto thread on here but I literally have hundreds of photos throughout the process. Now to the question part. I've been looking on ebay and other sites as to what these are going for, you can get African imports for as little as 3 1/2k for full cars, but I can't stress enough there is not a spec of rust on this shell at all, it needs nothing other than a touch up of the odd paint blemish and then all the bits to make it back into a car again. I've also seen shells that need work with no RS extras for 7+k It's not an RS, and I'm not trying to pull the wool over anyone's eyes that it is, I just had all intentions of putting a hot pinto in it an thought as I was doing the work anyway, Ford must have thought they were needed so I best do the same. The shell owes me over 7K. I am currently thinking £6500 is a fair price for it considering everything? It will come rolling but with crappy front legs. The rear end has been polybushed. and has Gaz adjustable shockers on. I'd appreciate some advice as I'm reluctant to auction it on ebay due to the poor experiences I've previously had. http://www.oldskoolford.co.uk/ipb/index.php?/topic/80205-mk2-escort-gl-full-restoration/
  3. Had some on back order for several weeks from Burton's but they're having no luck getting them in from Germany. Can anyone suggest anywhere else I can try? Loads of people do the uprated ones with the thicker threads top and bottom but don't really want to go to the expense of buying new top cups etc. and would still mean the hole at the bottom of the leg would be too small.
  4. Je T'aime!!! Welcome aboard
  5. Loooooooove a silver Harrier, looks epic!! Welcome along. Where did you get your fancy errr......I'd say firewall but the 5 big holes would probably let the fire through quite quickly.....rear seat back from anyway, looks good enough to be standard ford fitment....although saying that the floppy bit of cardboard with a flimsy bit of foam pritt-sticked to it that I had in my car is more 1970's standard ford fitment Take it it's welded in?
  6. Where about's in Yorkshire are you? I live in Leeds and may be able to give you a few pointers if you're looking at something not a million miles away. Take it you want something that you can drive away? With your budget you're probably somewhere firmly in Mk2 4 door Ghia territory, 2 doors you're spending more money for less doors, so a mint 4 door needing little work could well be the same price as a ropey Mk2 2 door. A few years ago I had a mk2 1600 GL 4 door and a mk2 RS2000 (2 door). I paid just over twice the price of the GL for the RS and guess which one is still MOT'd and on the road and which one ended up getting stripped down for salvagable parts before the shell got swept into the back of a lorry!
  7. would love to see some pics, love the mk1 fezza!
  8. Those wheels look epic!!!!! Welcome along
  9. I second what he said!! Welcome aboard!
  10. Is it a mk1 or Mk2? Assuming from colours you mention its a mk2? Best thing to do would be to get a few pics of less noticeable and harder to get to places that shell is modified on RS's and post em up (or pm me) Most reshells have Strut top plates and extra brackets where anti tramp bars go but a lot don't go loads further. I assume its now a flat front as the nose cone is usually a dead giveaway . So there may be signs that front wings have been replaced as they're different on an RS2000 to allow nosecone to fit. There are 2 inserts that go into the bottom of the turrets on the inner wing behind the front struts, and also another plate that welds to the wing rail that you can feel if you stick your hand right up under the wheel arch. The Hole for the gearbox is a bit further back, as some others have said there's a bracket in the boot towards the left hand side to fasten the wheel strap to. One that gets missed a lot is a bracket under the car near the front of the transmission tunnel, can't remember at the moment what the brackets for but its to pull some cable away from the exhaust manifold to stop it melting/burning because the inlet and outlet manifolds are on the opposite side of the engine on a pinto than all the crossflows they had in all other mk2 escorts.
  11. looking spot on!!

  15. Got a couple more pics of that 2nd mark 2 on your earlier post. Met the guy who owned it at the time back in 2009, he'd just had it painted (orange obviously) and put it back together and the show in York where I met him was the 1st he'd been to in it since completion....Carl I think his name was, lived out Hull way? Seen it on Ebay a time or 2 since then so guess it's changed hands a couple of times in last 5 or 6 years. Looked Really well in the metal. Said he was going to paint it Focus ST orange but got a price for paint and it was a fortune at the time.
