I've always had goodridge and never had an issue, I'll admit they aren't at the cheap end of the range but I've had them on all my cars and bikes over the years! You will have to double check if you've got metric or imperial unions though but the usual suspects stock them, rally design, burton power etc James

yes as my 4 speed has bitten the dust im replacing with a 5 speed but refuse to cut another hole in the tunnel and have 2 holes in my carpet! i have a standard bellhousing but am working on making the lever 700mm from the bellhousing front edge its a work in progress!!!! james
-
thank you very much, i now need to make a type 9 with bellhousing around 60cm
-
you can colin, but you have to be careful, cut the bulk of the front panel off and then carefully drill/cut/grind the joint to the wing away!
-
the door capping! i think!?! james

the vic check is in no way to check the quality of repairs. i have taken unrepaired cars before. it is what is says, a vehicle identification check. they are just looking to make sure the numbers all match and the car isnt a stolen one replated to look like a written off car. its absolutly nothing to worry about but it will be shown on the v5 from now on that the car has had a vic check. however you need to MOT the car. as for the vin number missing from the strut top it might be a bit of a suck it and see type thing. but they may ask for proof of the repairs carried out in replacing thje strut tops at the end of the day its up to you to prove its not a ringer not them to prove it is!

hello guys could i trouble one or 2 of you for a couple of measurements please? basically i need to know the full length of a type 9 and an escort 4 speed box, both including bell housings pretty please cheers james
-
the 4 speed escort box you do need to fill from underneath im afraid. and your auto tunnel is wider than a manual tunnel, and the mount is moved further back. the type 9 will bolt straight in with the auto mount or your going to have to bodge the mount through the floor to fit the 4 speed. incidentally you dont want to get rid of your auto prop do you? cheers james
-
i would try the easiest option first and pull the cam cover off and inspect. assuming everything is ok in there then i would be looking to the head gasket it sounds like the compression and or heat has blown the fire rings.
-
cheers guys its only a bit of a trial at the moment you never know with enough interest and paying customers i might eventually make it full time!!!!! pete, keep me in mind im not fussed what jobs it is large or small. rob feel free to drop by and take a look at my escort if you would like to see my previous work and have a chat. biggles that shouldnt be a problem, again feel free to come for a chat or to eye up my own escort. graham pm on its way! cheers guys james
-
firstly your car and engine bay look stunning! very very nice regards your engine my first thought would be the head gasket but have you had the cam cover off yet to check the cams and rockers? is the engine standard internally and is it a standard ford or non genuine head gasket? cheers james

hello guys especially those in and around lincolnshire basically i now have my own unit in sleaford and would like to offer my services to you boys and girls. i have experience in escorts, capris, cortinas and s!erras, i can offer nearly all services including welding/fabrication, bodywork, engine swaps, suspension, brakes and drivetrain servicing, repairs and modifications. i can also offer paintwork and body restoration as well as crash repair (should the worst happen). i only work part time so my pricing is quite cheap and am a fully qualified ata registered panel beater and a senior ata mechanic. so let me know if i can help any of you out and i can either travel to you to quote or you are very welcome to bring your old ford to me (i also offer tea, free to all customers) cheers james

thanks, it means a lot the wilwoods are awesome, need cleaning quite regularly as they squeal but work superbly. one thing that gets very annoying is the pads moving and clicking when in stop start traffic james -
any one got any ideas on what its worth? cheers james

iv gone as far as i can with my escort, its been in a magazine which was my aim so im thinking about getting rid and moving onto the next project however what should i be asking for a 4 door mk2? its minty mint just had a full respray in original cordoba beige inc engine bay, door shuts etc. runnign a 1700 xflow, with a2 cam and twin 40 webers its running a 2.4 quickrack with ally mounts, grp 4 coupling, coilovers with eccentric top mounts and gaz adjustables, adjustable tca's and fully polybushed 4 pot wilwood brakes 247x20mm vented disks, rear disks with rebuilt calipers, all new copper pipes and braided hoses and a bias pedal box. refurbed 7j superlites with nearly new yoko a539's mint black interior, sport clocks, flocked dash top and dial surround, quiafe gearknob, burton quickshift and sparco deep dish suede steering wheel, also has rear seat belts no rust or rot anywhere fully waxoyled and running perfectly, not taxed atm but will be sold with 6 months t+t so how much is it worth? thanks all james
-
at least it gives us something to hold onto when bump starting it lol sorry mate i actually think its ok, with a few tweeks it will look awesome also before the wheels you HAVE to v6 the bastard you do know that dont you?
-
well done glen nice to hear it turned out alright if i were that fitter i would have let them sack me and fooked them over in court
-
it makes your blood boil too then glen? its those spineless cnuts that run these bodyshops who are too scared to say no to a customer for fear of loosing an insurance contract how did you get on anyway mate?
-
vista it happens in all bodyshops, the amount of unrelated jobs i have to do is immense, and most of them i am expected to do without getting paid for couple of weeks ago i had to change a rocker cover gasket on a focus becuase there was 3 miles added to the vehicles odometer due to the technitian taking the car on road test to check for wind noise the owner kicked off saying we had caused an oil leak i can understand from the customers point of view, everyone is out to get all they can but when i get asked to do the job without a jobcard it means i dont get paid, it also means my efficiencies go down which means im under more pressure the next job i do to be even quicker than humanly possible just to make up at the end of the day the rich get richer the poor get poorer, i havnt had a pay rise in 3 years, the cost of living has risen dramatically in that time but the bosses are still rolling round in range rover sports and bmw's King makes me sick
-
glen i feel for you mate, i work in a bodyshop as a senior ATA qualified MET technition and as such have to to sign off all the strip and fit work that comes out of the body shop. however as well as that i am supposed to do my own job and am expected to be around 150% efficient too. in effect im signing off work i cannot be expected to see. to those here simply blaming the fitter picture the scene, your given a jobcard with unrealistic times, this sort of job is quite rare so is not automatic as such and yes whilst being pushed to do the job quicker than it should take something gets over looked. this is not all the fitters fault, i maintain if insurers keep screwing times down on us someone will die due to technitians being rushed into being efficient enough. im sorry but the qc is the last in line to ensure the car is roadworthy or not. even if stated on our job cards or not everything still has to be checked. i have said to coworkers before all out BSI accreditation just makes the companys we work for less liable, its ultimatly down to the qc and technitians, its a shit industry we work in
