I think it would be bad for Scotland and the rest of the UK if a split were to happen. From what I understand this vote is not for independence but whether to explore it further - is that right?
If so you can understand the "yes" campaign gaining momentum as voting yes or no is fairly easy but when it starts to be explored further and terms etc have to be agreed it probably will not feel quite so simple.
That being said if it did happen I have no doubt that it would cost the remaining UK tax payers more money initially and to some degree damage our standing in Europe although probably not significantly. However I very much doubt that Scotland will be better off or indeed be able to maintain many of the things its residents have grown use to. I might be wrong but it seems like those that would like to be independent are basing a lot of the country's future wealth / power on possible future resources!
