  1. Ok, last but not least. The car was a left hand drive now converted to  right hand drive.

Myself and a few friends  did the conversation. Each of us with 25+ years experience as mechanics.

The original dash hole for the clocks was welded up and a hole cut on the offside. A new clock support bracket welded in also.

Original rhd parts fitted... steering column and associated cowling. Under dash loom. Clock set (yes, there is a difference) centre switch cowling, wiper motor and mechanism.

All old holes for column,  cables etc welded up.

New holes. Measurements taken from a recently shot blasted rs shell and are spot on.

I'm very happy with how the car is and was built to keep. If it doesnt sell then for now, thats fine too (for now).

    Open to sensible offers.

Will try and get some decent pix over the weekend. If anyone wants specific shots, let me know.

  2. RP As much as i like cortinas, i already know 2 people that have them and i like to be different lol

Monza. Unfortunately i dont have any other options. Im not desperate to sell, just putting it out there.

I think if im going to lose my job I'll know within a month or so.

Once i know, that'll be the deciding factor.

    Cheers

  3. All new fuel lines from the tank throughout. Silver top pump in the boot and filter king filter/regulator in the engine bay.

Now, original 1300gt engine will be with the car but not fitted. Its now fitted with a fresh built 1600 engine with twin 40 dellortos. Also fitted it an Ashley 2 inch, twin box exhaust with 4 branch manifold  (brand new). Manifold been wrapped with titanium exhaust wrap.

The flywheel  has had new ring gear then sent to the engineer shop to be refaced and balanced with a new 3 piece clutch.

    Interior...

It was in a bad (tan colour)way when i got it so have made a good start with that.

New(old) parcel shelf and rear 1/4 cards fitted in black. Managed to find original beta cloth rear seat cover for it also. Looks in very good shape

Front door cards new black and a good fit.

Front seats are MK2 Fishnet Recaros. In brown. Nice seats but need re covering to match.

New set of window rubbers. Side 1/4 rubbers have been fitted as was the front screen(new front screen also). Rear screen rubber not fitted as yet as the glass has gone misty in places so have been keeping an eye out for a new one.

Also removed the original 12in wheels as they didnt look great and the tyres were knackered.

Got hold of a set of very good Mexico steelies. Had them shot blasted and painted in stardust silver. Black inserts also painted,  not stickers. Fitted with 4 brand new Marshall tyres. Spare still needs a tyre but painted and ready to go. More  to come....

Edit. Spare wheel now has brand new matching tyre

  4. Cant believe im having to do this.

Looks like redundancy is heading my way so the car is for sale.

Its a 1974 1300GT in Tawny brown imported from Portugal in 2016 and i purchased it from Cambridge classic cars.

I registered the car and has a correct (M) age related plate.

The body is good  but the paint isn't great tbh.

Welding done to the shell has been.  Rear lower corners bothe sides using expressed panels and professionaly finnished at a local body shop to a high standard (if i didnt tell you, you wouldnt know). Also had both front floor pans replaced fully welded inside and out.

Suspension. Brand new....Burton 145lb coil springs. TC anti rollbar, bottom arms. Fully pollybushed front and rear with black series bushes. 4x AVO adjustable shock absorbers. Adjustable Panhard rod and tramp bars. Quick rack and track rod ends. UJ that connects rack to column. Diff 389 fully rebuilt at the cost of £450+. Rear wheel bearings.

Brakes. Front callipers refurbished. New flexis all round and all copper brake pipes replaced. Bias pedal box and servo now fitted.

ALL OF THE ABOVE ARE BRAND NEW PARTS FITTED IN THE LAST YEAR OR SO.

Parts by Motorsport tools or Burton.

More info to come later when i get the chance cheers all.

  5. Thanks for your input chaps.

I'll have a think about it over winter. Looks like k&n are the way to go if i put filters on.

Ive seen the mesh trumpet covers so may think about getting them. Well, they'll keep the birds out 😁.

Tbh i wasn't that impressed with the tuners. Theres a  bit of a flat spot at about half pedal. Should have rung them straight away but dont really want to go back to them.

It only splutters occasionally but thats enough so I'll avoid the foam filters.

  6. I know what air filters are for, its obvious.

    But do you use them?

I dont at the moment but the car is coming off the road for winter soon so considering weather to for next year and onwards.

Personally im not to worried weather or not it does/doesnt look better with them.

My only concern is a spit back from the carbs and the filters setting fire.

    What do you do??
