It all comes down to 70% prep, 20% quality of machine and 10% Luck ha ha, Those welds are beautiful, but you need some serious machinery to allow you to create that much penetration without distortion or spatter. V. skillful stuff.

Too thick and high pressure maybe! But its usually from high pressure and too quick! Causes the paint to sit up as opposed to being wet and laying down smooth. Either way its hard to diagnose over the net! My advice of test spraying still stands, therefore i am the best!!!! Ha Ha Ha!!!

Sorry hate argue but its not actually puttin it on too thick, quite the opposite, its going on too dry that causes orange peel, thinning out more than req'd will lead to runs! My advice to you is get some large test sheets, old panels etc, prep them as you would your car and then practice. Runnin at a steady rate with the distance to panel about 6inches depending on pressure and size of fan. Then experiment with different speeds and pressure. You may be running too much pressure causing paint to vaporize. Practice makes perfect, dont rush.
