  5. Well it cant hurt to try, its only a set of old steels, if i fook it up it dont matter! Got to make sure they clear the wilwoods before i do anything then work from there. Will keep all informed!
  6. Yup agreed, no hobby mig set I'll use the industrial unit at work. What ya reckon on getting them balanced right? I'm thinkin just a smooth continous weld and Keep checking the width every 2 inches?
  7. Thats why we love oldskool, nobody expects much till they're staring at our rear bumper dissapearing up the road !!
  8. Yer was thinking of asking but really dont see how it can beyond me to do it! Just worried about the balancing and best gauge steel to use. Was always gonna go for octagon but if you reckon round is best!
  9. I'm going to have a go at doing some banded steels, with my standard 5.5 steels, Anyone done a set before? Had a look at geoffsmashers today and they look cool as fook! Think I could make set but any advice?
  10. Def speak to 105speed, they're very good service and cheaper than almost everyone else, plus they're proper osf!
  11. It all comes down to 70% prep, 20% quality of machine and 10% Luck ha ha, Those welds are beautiful, but you need some serious machinery to allow you to create that much penetration without distortion or spatter. V. skillful stuff.
  12. Cool as fook! sounds awesome too!
  13. WOW thats a hell of alot of work and how neat is it? Hmm I think i'm going to do my escy like that!!
  14. Trouble is she was bang into the motors and stuff, but now things are tight and i've spent alot recently on the car she reckons it has to go, plus there are other issues like me spending more time down workshop on car then on her ha ha!! Still here starts the new period of my life, escy on the road next month and plenty of spare time to drive the wheels off it!!
  15. Well I tried to explain to her that after 5 years of hard graft and thousands spent on it I feel i deserve to get a few seasons of fun out of it! But she only sees it as a deposit on a bigger house! Sorry love but the cars staying love ya!!
  16. The question I was asked on friday. After two years together I'm now back at my parents but still in posession of my beautiful mk2

  18. Hi Jo, I rejoined again via automatic paypal, but have lost my purple status? Will i lose my contributor number? Dont wanna be a high number now! Also can you give me access to all rooms pls
  19. Too thick and high pressure maybe! But its usually from high pressure and too quick! Causes the paint to sit up as opposed to being wet and laying down smooth. Either way its hard to diagnose over the net! My advice of test spraying still stands, therefore i am the best!!!! Ha Ha Ha!!!
  20. Adrain flux refused me too!!!! WTF!! no convictions, 3 years no claims!! it bullshit!! The reason they dont like having no seat is because i'm likely to race it!! HA HA as if the rollcage and buckets didnt make em think that! I Jus want it covered so its legal otherwise i wouldnt bother!! I aint worried about damge (I'm a panel beater/sprayer) and my insurance for theft is my 12 gauge under my bed!!
  21. Sorry hate argue but its not actually puttin it on too thick, quite the opposite, its going on too dry that causes orange peel, thinning out more than req'd will lead to runs! My advice to you is get some large test sheets, old panels etc, prep them as you would your car and then practice. Runnin at a steady rate with the distance to panel about 6inches depending on pressure and size of fan. Then experiment with different speeds and pressure. You may be running too much pressure causing paint to vaporize. Practice makes perfect, dont rush.
  22. whereabouts in london mate? I'm sarf of the river have mobile welding facilities and can help.
