Hello all, I'm after some advice. Has anyone had any dealings with or heard of the First Choice fleet centre, birmingham? I'm interested in a Ford they've got for sale and could do with some advice off anyone with any knowledge of them. Cheers, Dave.

....Sorry to hear about your job, I know its getting hard for a lot of people. Working in the public sector I'd like to think my jobs pretty secure but I can't believe how expensive Britain is getting though, and Europe for that matter!! I'm having to seriously cut back on alot. Worst thing is they've just announced inflations now up to 3.8%!!!! I can see thefts of fuel starting to go through the roof, if they're not already. Glad you're keeping the car. Dave.

... I did consider using a cover once but have been told that the moisture that can build up in them is a seriously bad thing.

I can't see labour living this one down. I'm not political by any means but I really think we need a change.

.....Anyone better off with the new tax rates?!! I'm not, worse off by £50 and thats a bog standard diesel Mondy. Only affects post 2001 vehicles luckily otherwise I'd have to get rid of the Fairlane. See link for info. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/in_depth/629/629/7293011.stm Cheers, Dave.

.....Don't pay for roadside cover separately. I've got fully comp insurance for my Fairlane for £98 for the year with Footman James 08454586753 and it includes breakdown roadside cover with AXA assistance. Hope this helps. Dave.

Nice one, Gives me a few options. This should be the last bit of work for a while hopefully. Fortunately my father in law owns a garage in Cardiff so anything major I take it to him, bit far to take her for just brakes and stuff though. He did do a load of welding on my MK1 Cortina a couple of years back for my birthday!! Think it was around a weeks work so a seriously good present. I have a place in Coventry aswell through my old man but again bit of a pain to get to. Anyone ever used Eric Morris in Droitwich Spa? I took her over to him a while back to match up on one of the belts and he was spot on, only trouble is that he doesn't do MOT's so has to take them round the corner to AUTO TYRE and batteries and I do not trust them at all. One of those jokers tried telling me one of my tyres on my Mondy needed changing, which was absolute ********. WHAT DO YOU THINK ABOUT SETTING UP A FORUM ON OLD SKOOL WHERE GARAGES CAN GET RECOMMENDED OR OTHERWISE? Dave.

..I'm with you on that. I'm really busy at the minute with work and doing up my house so have got a garage fitting brake discs/ pads/ shoes/ steering linkage on my Fairlane. Trouble is they seem to be struggling. The boss of the garage appears to book in shed loads of MOT's for his guys and the old Ford expert at the garage is a tester so he's been forced to do the MOT's meaning my baby has been left by the wayside. It was due to be all finished in 2 days but its been five now. I know they're not charging me for the five days but in the mean time its been stuck out in the rain, its normally garaged. This morning I got a call saying they couldn't start it, 1st time it hasn't started since I bought it a year ago. I'm guessing moisture in the electrics. I headed over to try and start it but its now seriously flooded. So I'm a bit ****** off cause they need to start her to get her into the garage to put the shoes on. They dropped a hint that they are struggling to bleed the brakes so I might need a new master cylinder. Trouble is the master cylinder is only 8 yrs old and I seriously doubt its f*****. Wish I had the time to do it all myself otherwise I would. Crazy that I've just been delivered a load of spares from Australia, from various suppliers that I had to put my faith in and they all provided me with excellent service, shame not getting same so close to home. I think I'm stuck with this garage until the works finished but in the future I'm going to need to find someone else, preferably someone who loves old skool fords and seriously big V8's. Cheers for reading my rant, any ideas would be appreciated. Dave.

.......Hey folks, Hope you're all doing well and not too depressed over the hours of rain we're getting at the minute. I need some advice. Despite living in Droitwich, Worcestershire for over 5 years I still haven't been able to find a mechanic I trust. Anyone know any really decent genuine mechanics in the Worcestershire/ S. Brimingham area? Cheers, Dave.

.......I def meant photobucket.com and not photoshop, check it out, its not just a hosting site anymore. I too think its just fine as it is. Dave

Hi Tom, Fine looking beast you've got there. I've found photobucket.com really useful for altering photos to see what different paint jobs would look like. Cheers, Dave.

I don't think that there's a general lack of respect for the police out there. The vast majority of folks where I live have alot of respect for the police and appreciate that it can be a testing job. As for the way the officer "yanked" the lad out of the civic, I think the officer was very controlled and dealt with the situation effectively. No one was hurt. If you are dealing with a suspected car thief you need to take control of the situation before any one else takes control of it for you, especially when you're right next to a motorway. I don't know why people give it large on camera when being dealt with by the police, there's only ever one winner and its always the police. I find it interesting when people give out the impression that they are more than they are. You often find that the quieter and the more respectful that people are, then the more important and more succesful they tend to be. Some little lad giving out the big "I am" is quite funny. Its the quiet ones you need to watch.

Yeah she is. Very old respray on her that has held up well. Tribute to the sprayer. Guy I had it off didn't believe in cleaning it and it didn't fit in his garage so she got a little abused. Fits in my garage perfect now though. Doesn't come out in the rain any more! -
Thats great. Cheers, Dave.
-
Hi, Can anyone do anything cool to make my sig pic look a little tidier? Cheers, Dave.
