i had a similar problem on my pinto. i gather youre running an electric fuel pump?? make sure your pump is well insulated on rubber mounts as they can create a frequency that fools the electronic ignition into firing all over the place.
A good way to check is to pull off the king lead and then switch on ign then pump. if the kiing lead sparks before you crank the car then u have a fault.

carefull mate , soap can clog the suede and ruin the wheel, use a dry foam cleaner,look on ebay for Brisk Vif Auto, its a trade cleaner and is fantastic.

That has to be the best CF ever!!! i'm still buzzing . A massive thanks to the leadfoot brigade for all their supprt and advise about getting my times down .To be honest after 3 years of building it and its already on its second engine after the last lasted all of 20 miles, i was a little bit i woried of it going bang.
But Andy and Lee i did listen to you and i got down from 16.1 to 14.3 by the end!!!
