Looks like a sh*t honing job to me. Exhaust valve contacting piston.Need valve pocket deepened. Total strip down,assess damage to cam and valve gear, pistons,rods bearings etc. Get someone who knows what there doing to rebuild it!!!

Any books by David Vizard!!! Really explains the art of engine tuning. Tuning the "A" series (mini) engine will keep you engrossed for weeks. (Yea I know its not Ford but the principles still apply)

Its more rebuilding, less tuning, IMO.

Thanks for the pozitive comments guys. BTW I found the rocker box on ebay about 3 years ago,don,t know what make it is ,anyone out there know? The engine is a 1370 xflow with 234 cam and a load of hours spent building it up. It revs over 7000rpm and showed 103 bhp & 92ftlb torque on the rollers.Be interesting to see what it does now we,ve set the carbs up. Cheers, Robyn

Your dead right there. I was recently told this by a abrasive medium supplier and he also explained the Sillicosis disease.Its something to do with broken sand particles which have sharp edges getting lodged in the lungs and can make breathing difficult in later life.Nasty!! The point is NOT to use building sand for sand blasting especially outside in the open air. Use a manmade abrasive medium. Blasting cabinets should have an extractor system fitted.It helps you see what your doing while your blasting. cheers.

A family size pot of elbow grease is what you need. Your going to have to scrape that crud off by hand because a sandblaster wont touch it. The sand just bounces off it. Get scraping!!
