Its getting toward that time to respray my escort and ive a concern. Ive seen a couple of cars painted in the new water based paints and the paints always seem to crack in the gutter rail after no time at all. One car hasnt even been on the road or driven yet (its still being rebuilt) and its got cracks there too so im guessing thats this cracking in the paint isnt down to the stress and strains a shell takes on the road. Has this happened to anyone else? Is there any way of preventing this? Why didnt the cars orginal factory paint not crack in this way?

One small issue my wheel well on the on passenger side doesnt have the dip in it, its the same shape as fuel tank side if that makes sense

Right i wanna mount the battery in my boot preferably rear wheel well so it looks stock ish rather than a box bolted in. Now ive been told though i wont get a tray to fit in there that will hold a modern decent sized battery but really wanted it in wheel well with a clap over the top to hold it. Thoughts suggestions links?

There not exspensive to get good power from , set of forged pistons and a nice head and cam and some 45s will see 140-160 bhp depending on head and cam , ive just gone over board , steel components dont give more power there just stronger. bigger capacity will give you a little more power , cheaper than a standard 2.0 zetec on 45s as i said above with conversion cost with similar if not more power , unless you go for the st170 engine if iam correct But 180-190+ will hurt my wallet nick you any closer to getting back "that" engine for "that" car
