Anybody know the dates of the "all Granada clubs together meet" at Billing Aquadrome this year? Heard a rumour that it was the weekend of the 6th/7th September but this was some time ago, can anyone confirm? and anyone else going?

EVENING CRUISE TO ROUTE 38 (CORNWALL)
jonny boy replied to Mrs O/H/C's topic in SHOWS, EVENTS & MEETS
I`m deffo interested depending on the date, the limo could do with an outing -
Sorry I didn`t make it to this one....had to work Saturday morning and then I`m rather busy building my next banger (mk1 Cavalier with Xflow power) for the Mike Hook memorial at Standlake on July 20th, but looks like it was a good turn out and good to see from the pics that my old Capri A890 LAD was in attendance, I was originally gonna race this car but decided it was far too good and put it back on the road and sold it to it`s present owner at the Duchy Capri Club show at Flambards this year! I will deffo try to make the next one (if there is going to be more??) and maybe this time it will be in the mk2 Granada hearse that I purchased this weekend

I gotta admit I was suprised and a little disappointed at the amount of modern stuff there this year, although they are not my cup of tea I understand that mk3 Escorts and mk1 Fiestas are now coming of age and therefore eligable but none the less I thought it was a "Classic Ford" show!! and since when have 53 plate Ka`s been classics?? not to mention the mundanoes, focuses and late model escorts and fiestas, after all I thought that was what "fORD fAIR" was for and why the "Classic Ford show was started?? the final insult was that after the loss of 1/4 mile action time due to the weather (nobody`s fault) but when the RWYB action finally got under way the fire up lane was heavily laden with modern durge...fine if time and numbers allow but out of order if...as was the case some didnt get the chance to do their 3 runs they had payed for, I think the boundaries of what constitutes a "Classic Ford" needs to be determined for future shows otherwise I think there will be an increasing trend of more modern stuff pushing the true Classic Fords out until it will become just another Ford Fair but centered around the 1/4 mile as opposed to the circuit maybe there should be a rule of only Ford models that were first in production before 1982 or such in place??

ROUTE 38 (CORNWALL) COMING SOON ... MAY 3RD (PAGE 27)
jonny boy replied to Mrs O/H/C's topic in SHOWS, EVENTS & MEETS
I thoroughly enjoyed the meet (had one or two wheel wobble and brake judder issues on the way up as this was the limo`s first outing since being laid up in october) many thanks to the "Leadfoots" for organising it lots of great cars, some I`d seen before and some I hadn`t, good to have a yarn with a few people including Marc from "Classic Ford" again and a "spooky moment" when Will bought his Granny limo along (the one with flames up the front) only to find his reg number was only 3 digits along from mine! I guess at some time they were parked alongside one another in a funeral directors lock up eh? -

Got the road tax for my Granny limo today, so this will be it`s first outing this year , my mate John will be bringing his V6 mk2 tina along which will be thats 2nd proper outing since it`s makeover last year, look foward to seeing you all there -
my finest so far: 1962 mk3 Zephyr, it came to me as a rolling shell, with half an engine, gearbox, no prop, and no ID (no reg No and no chassis/vin) the guy I got it from had bought this as half a pair (one to do up and this was the spares car) after he had taken what he wanted to restore the other one I had what was left, I gave any useable parts to an enthusiast and after approx 100 hours hard graft fitted a complete Capri front end...crossmember, struts, steering rack etc.. not to mention welding in a complete L/H/R floor and fitted a 1.6 pinto lump/gearbox and custom made single piece prop come race day all that was left of the original car was the body, back axle and steering wheel! It was raced at Westworld pre 75 meeting in April last year where despite numerous problems it won me the DD and was taken home looking like this it was then taken back for another meeting where my mate took it out in the DD and it finally ended up like this better than going straight into the crusher eh?
-
I`ve only ever raced at Westworld until this year where I made my first trip to Standlake for the HMC and loved it hope to have a go at Bristol, st Day, poss Wimbledon (before that c**t Ken Livingstone puts a stop to it!) and Standlake again this year
-
does anyone know what the date is for this one this year?
-
I`ve got one from a Montego turbo! It`s about the only usefull thing from that car
-
you cheeky monkey Matt besides.....if I am a little late I have now applied some polish to the Fezza`s paint and blown the tyres up rock hard so it should fly!

Ah the famous "dust pan and brush" auction of classic cars at Duckworths motor spares in Cornwall, in all fairness there was some much better stuff there too but this was the top yard which housed the stuff that had been there for years, sad thing was that I know people (myself included) that had tried to buy some of these cars for years but were told that there would be a big auction....shame it was 10/15 years too late for a lot of the cars
