  1. take the screen out too, i know its a pain, but there probably is something lurking under the rubber
  2. no pics yet mate, its still in the process of getting finished, ive done all the welding to it, its just sanding down the filler ive put over them, just so its all smooth and uniform looking (yes my welding is top notch thank you very much!) it was a fair bit of work, i had to cut the rear trangle pieces off that conect to the rear arches, cut the join between the two tubes, open them up a bit and re-weld them to the main hoop after sortening them in length, if you get what i mean. for the main hoop i had to cut it in half and literally only take a mm's out of it, i then slugged it with some thick tubing on the inside to add strength, and welden it all back together. took me about a 5 days to do in about 1 hour sessions in the garage, this includes welding on the strengthening plates on the floor and wheel arches for the cage to sit on. although the cage really is just for show ive done my best to make it at least a functioning cage if for some reason i actually do flip the capri, plus it will add some chassis stiffening.
  3. any idea on the camtech website, all i can find is camera stuff
  4. i see, well to be honest, i only ever intend on doing maybe a track day once in a blue moon, and even then any car is allowed to hoon around the track, i seriously dont think id ever get it into competition racing. i only wanted the cage really to complete the race replica sort of thing i was going for.
  5. ive been making up a roll cage for the mk3 capri, the cage i got was a new safety devices cage, but it was for a nissan micra got it because there are no capri cages, and it was £50 , now obviously ive had to modify it somewhat to fit the capri, what i was wondering though, is although the sticker on it says do not remove, is it really needed?and what for, ive kept it on, its just working around it so i dont damage it, the cage still has its numbers stamped on it. also, where can i find a bolt on cross brace?
  6. whats the reason behind chopping out the bottom of the rear? is it the poor mans way of getting less underbody air drag? ive done it for two reasons, 1 it looks cool and 2 because mine was a bit rotten
  7. know how you feel mate, id love an osf shell for my 1/10 nitro car, seen a few capri ones but they just look wrong, the windows were all out of shape and the door must have been 20 foot high in scale terms
  8. nothing at all different, my backbox got chopped off and the sound was just the same!
  9. could follow the curve of the bottom of rear window, and sort of mate the line up with what youve got now?
  10. and go right down over the roof, as in the drip rail part, like what a vinyl roof should look like
  11. when i fitted bubbles onto my mk3 capri, i stuck the arches on with duck tape, riveted them on every 3 inches, used my orbital sander to go around the edges to somewhat smooth them into the bodywork if you get what i mean, then i whacked a load of fibreglass filler onto them, sanded that down and then bodyfiller, takes about 3 or 4 skins of filler and sanding to get it about right. im not 100% happy with how mine cam out as i should have put more time into sanding them smooth as you can see the filler and some uneven parts, but its a veeeeery long and tiresome process
  12. i think its just me, but, i dont get what the number plate joke is
  13. yeah i taught myself how to weld, and ive been spraying stuff since i was about 11 years old (obviously crappy back then) and all that i know has gone into my capri, its also probably why my memory is buggered, all the paint fumes...........what were we talking about?
  14. check theres nothing blocking where it comes out, or a snaggled edge on the wire
  15. why not just get a quick release steering wheel boss? take the wheel out of the car, then how the hell can someone drive it away?
  16. wheres the best place to get them, need a set of 4, biggest possible so 25mm, or if anybody on here has a set, theyre for my capper
  17. ive got 3 of them (one must have gone missing when the arch got rotten) yours for a tenner mate, theyre mint condition with the blue ford badge logo
  18. where do you get those tarmac arches from anyway?
  19. now then, dont know if anybody would remember these, but my first bike was a raleigh boxer, a mini bmx in yellow with huge bars and a massive padded seat, nowdays a have a mk3 raleigh chopper for decoration in my room
  20. you are absolutely right, it is another word for slave labour, im in my final few months of my apprenticeship now, i get £90 a week plus £10 travel expense money, its not all that bad, and it keeps me being able to buy parts for the capri
  21. not just internal combustion engines, those electric shopmobility quads that they go tearing around in like hooligans ive been in many situations where they just use them to shove through crowds catching your t shirt and bags etc, i do agree grabbing the guy was a bit out of order, i mean the world is a shit enough place for them anyway with the kids of today terrorising them when they leave their homes, and the constant reports of oap's getting mugged and battered to hell for their pensions
