yeah i saw them in various online rally supply shops for about a fiver, any idea where i can get one that will definately fit my mk3 cortina?

from the looks of that it looks as simple as drilling a hole on the other end of the pawl

where can i find one to fit a mk3 cortina, also im not 100% sure on the operation of them, but is it where the button is pushed to lock the handbrake in position, instead of pushed to release it, and the handbrake is free to move up and down without locking until you push the button.

that bag of salt on it wont do it any good, isnt there enought rust on it looks a good project

well, at work we hardly touch an angle grinder because we work on crap modern cars, but at home, i wear gloves if i know im going to do a fair bit of grinding, but if its just a quick flattening of some bit of welding i wont bother if my gloves are at the other end of the garage or if i cant find them at hand, i dont find them resticting with regards to control of the grinder, its the same with or without gloves, i suppose ill be sorry for not wearing them if something goes wrong, but thats how it is when your working with dangerous tools. i ALWAYS wear box goggles though, getting a nasty gouge in your hands is one thing, but losing your sight is another.

what was destined to be a race replica paintjob on my capri of the early 70's le mans racers......has now been violently shoved into the path of a train as i blasted it with matt black about an hour ago, i had to do it though, i saw a trailer for a film called death proof, and decided matt black was the way to go.

was talking to a guy today, about what ways to protect your car form being stolen, he told me the usual switches and what not, but id never thought of this, a line lock in the braking system, push the brake, turn the lock on and your car wont budge, so even if the turd wants to tow the car away they cant. what a cracking idea

i know what you mean, my capri cost me £263 on ebay, found a fair few nasties with it, so expect to be buying yourself a welding kit and a lot of sheet steel! bought it when i was 17........im 19 now and its not tooooo far from being ready for paint, but ive been doing a lot of modifications to it that i didnt really need, bubble arches, roll cage, bonnet modification, custom exhaust etc etc etc, i too have a novelty air horn! got it given a few days ago, whats yours........dixie! gwaaaaan the dixie horns!

well, i keep mine in my garage, for security, well my room is in the loft and i can hear everything that goes on in the alleyway that my garage leads onto, so if anyone wants my capri, theyll have to survive a claw hammer smashed into their skull to get away with it, for some reason, nobody has tried to force the garage door open since i half battered to death some scumbag that attempted to get in with a piece of scrap capri exhaust, i was exhausted by the time he crawled away (no pun intended) but i dont take any crap, nobody shoud really. end of

i think the prices are just a bit silly, same here though, im never selling my capri, it dies with me! its my first car and ive put too much work into it to ever consider getting rid of it, probably a pound of flesh and a few pints of blood and sweat dotted over the whole thing

i completely agree retro, safety is paramount in any situation, ill take that sticker off then as i dont need to worry about it anymore. i only did really what i had to do to the cage to make it fit and did the best job i could, the sleeve is about 6 inches long in total so 3 either side of the weld in the centre.
