Friend of a friend has a knackered rusty transit, back doors rotten etc with a vaux turbo motor that he takes to track days to piss off the evo boys

What did u guys think of the event then? I was marshalling on junction 4 in langdale which was a 90 right 90 left combo into a very long sweeping left down to junction 5 Jimmy Mcrae was awesome thru here, just sliding it enough to be really quick was definitely one of the fastest and bravest past us, 95% of the other competitors had a big lift or braked for the big sweeper but not jimmy. Of the others i thought Bob Beans lotus cortina sounded awesome it just screamed. And he is bloody quick despite being about 70 ( i hear his winter fuel allowance from government bought him some new tyres for the event lol) The irish guys were very sideways and seemed to be having fun. The only real excitement on our stage was the fiesta ST that fell over the first time thru and broke on the second time and the guy in the mk1 that put it in the ditch after the stop line whilst taking his helmet off (DOH)

There were some kids canoeing down there

I will be marshalling on langdale on saturday it should be good, the stage is run twice in the day. Marshalling is great though, you get to watch from the best places and there are usually some freebies for doing it. And no marshalls=no event so get out there and help There is also the clubmans rally on running after the RAC it will cost to get into Dalby to spectate heard it might be £10to20 per car

Is the Karting still happening or has the idea died?

It should have been our rally this last weekend, but the weather meant it had to be cancelled. The picture below is of one of the fastest straights of the rally(normally) The rally is normally held in manby, which is only a couple of miles from louth which had 3 feet of water in it by friday night

thanks for the comments The galaxie was awesome, I think it is raced in historic touring cars so it has a full cage and modern drivers seat but still has a full red leather interior (cage goes through back seat). I think the zephyr races in touring cars too. ps did you guys notice he has red and green marker lights on roof (port and starboard) as it is such a big old barge!!

It was the reunion for ex members of hmc tonight, lot of old boys with lots of money not like the current membership! Not all OSF`s but some very nice cars this lotus has a brm engine out of a single seater and has been hillclimbed for last 40 years ish (by the same guy!)

I think i went there on a stag do about 5 years ago, if it is the same place it was a top venue, would prefer somewhere closer to home but dont really mind where i go. You can get a lift over with me or Juby if there's any problems Thanks mate, dont mind driving, but it wouldnt be in the escort, focus diesel power!!!!!!

There was a classic car show at the whiterose shopping centre today, so I managed to get a couple of pics, not many osf`s but there were some interesting other things there including a 512bb ferrari, 57 chevy and a 59 cadillac. It was p***ing down so i think some of the cars didnt stay too long.

i go the other way, I work in bradford

strange isnt that cars always look better in photos than they do when you get a good look at them... I was caught like that with my mk2 looked really good on the pics on ebay but when i got it home had to have new sills on both sides, a new wing and some patching done. Thank god for a mate that can weld and knows his escorts inside out. I nearly didnt buy the car cos he said no viewing as car in leeds and he was in london and he didnt want it nicking. The pic is as we were blowing tyres up to put it in trailer

If you got the 1.8tddi out of the focus/mondeo they go like buggery if you chip them.. got about 120bhp and 300nm of torque in my focus and it will out accelerate almost anything. Also I drive it like a tw*t to work every day and still get over 40 to gallon. only cost £240 for chip and half an hour to fit (and most of that was trying to get the bloody plug off the pump to plug the new bit in)

have we an idea of dates/ venues yet guys? I saw one of you suggested september time that would be good for me as i get wed(again) in august so I am a bit skint til then

I don't think you neccesarily are, much as I love seeing the Escort's out I do have an element of the "god I hope he doesn't bin it" mentality. Even to the point that I am torn with what to do with one of my Mk1 shells, one side of me looks at it and thinks, good solid shell ideal basis for a rally car, other side of me thinks it's to good to be a rally car. No such thing as too good to rally, you want the strongest nicest shell in the world to build a proper rally car, if your shell is a heap of rust to start with the first time you have an off you are going to kill the car and yourself. Dont get me wrong I love a timewarp original car, but I think there is no better sight than an escort broadside at full chat -
5pm on a friday? seems a strange time for a show, but i might be able to get there (not in mk2 though) it depends when i finish work in bradford
-
couldnt get there this year, been there several times..........one of best moments was when one of the Alan Mann racing escorts went up the hill got the fastest speed thru the speed trap (7 litre falcon 96mph mk1 essy 116mph)
