Hi there Can anyone recommend a courier to deliver an engine from East Riding of Yorkshire to the west country? Cheers greenfordpop AKA Barry

First time out for a propper drive in my Pop since i replaced the engine. Then i broke down near Weymouth on bank holiday Monday 50+ miles from home and had to be recovered It turned out to be the coil which was giving out a weak spark, enough spark to let the engine idle, but not enough to pull away, it would just die. On closer look today its got a Ballast Ignition Coil which for some reason has bypassed the Ballast resistor (when replacing the engine) which i guess is why the coil broke down. I`ve connected it all back up and it now seams to run fine. Does anyone know if i've damaged the coil or could i use a non Ballast Ignition Coil and bypass the Ballast resistor? As the Ballast resistor gets very hot or is that normal? greenfordpop AKA Barry

Where is said It would of been interesting to see who`s car was the fastest. I was ment to say it would of been interesting to see the look on your face as i went off in the distance Regards engine i`m going to look for some thing that`s already been converted, eg sump, carbs and so on. With the red top motor i also got to find a Manta g/box, but saying that i can get hold of a Mk2 Ecort engine X member that`s been converted to that a red top! greenfordpop AKA Barry

Thank you for your condolences Next week i`ll take the head off the see if the damage is terminal. If that`s the case i`ll put my low mileage 1.3 x/flow in for now and think about going a bit more modern, eg red top Vauxhall of Zetec! Sorry Stu i`ll have decline from our race. Coming back from the Weston cruise yesterday along the motorway with my kids in the car encouraged to go faster. Got my Pop up to about 100mph when there was a funny noise coming from the engine, smoke coming out the back and then moments later steam coming out from the bonnet! I managed to get off the motorway and with a couple off more stops i got it home leaving a vapor trail on the way! Oil bleeding from the bonnet Anyone know for a good 1.600 x/flow greenfordpop AKA Barry

Started Friday night by getting drunk, only to keep warm for the very cold night which layed ahead! My mate Steve took on a bet to prove that he could fit in a tot rod! And by the end of the night/early hours of Saturday morning. Paul who is chairman of Blue Ridge Runners, who put this event on, was trying to poll dance! After a cold night in the tent, a nice bbq breakfest soon warmed us up and we made our way down to the south coast stopping off at Seaton. Then ending up at Exmouth, where it tried to rain again! Spent Saturday night in the beer tent again. Which is still abit of a blur now. Sunday the the show n shine day LOL! Dry, but cold and cloudy. A few nice different cars there this year including a MK3 Zephyr 4 with a rover V8 and a Pinto`ed powed MK2 Consul (which is for sale). A good weekend despite the weather greenfordpop AKA Barry

Most of you on here will agree with me that the price of fuel is a joke and to do a weekender or show in your classic car is starting to hurt the wallet. My idea is to combine power and economy by using a modern engine in an old car. Yes i know this has been done before to make your old classic be a bit faster off the lights, but what i`m trying to acheive is if you fancy a blast around town or go to a show 100+ miles up the road you don`t need to count the pennys first. My mrs has a peugeot 406 HDI which does 50 miles + to the gallon on a run. Thats more than twice what my 61 Ford Consul with a pinto in it! So i`m open to suggestions whats the best alround engine (petrol or diesel) to use and most modern engines being FWD please let me know what g/box can be attached so the back wheels can drive the car like god intended greenfordpop AKA Barry

I made this up a few years a go to mount in the back of my Pop and was held in by the rear seat belts. It had a good view of the dash looking through the windowscreen, but where i made it so tall so i could slide the camers back n forwards it wobbled about a bit Hopefully i`ll set it up for the next car show greenfordpop AKA Barry
