You work in a scap metal merchants don't you Slik? I have about 65 Kg of 316 Stainless but am getting the run around from everywhere I try and take it. The standard answer seems to be "If you can't prove it's 316 then I'm only paying minimum stainless rates" Well derrr, there's nearly £400 a ton difference between the two rates, no wonder they're all trying to pull a fast one on me. Any suggestions? I do mate and its all a little new to me at the mo as I have only moved to the main prossesing yard about 4 months ago, Before I worked over at the car dimantaling site then over to the new cars parts shop! I do know though that the magnectic pull is diffrent between 316 and 18-8 stainless also the origine is a good giveaway like if its from somesort of phamicuticles(sp) or kitchen ect its normally 316. You may be able to do a spark test on it. You can deffo do an acid test but your getting a little envolved there But if you are real lucky it will have some thing stamped or printed on it like a few numbers or somthing that may be traceable to the source codes! Basically if the lads that work there have no idea then they are fooking idiots. We have lads that have worked with metal for decades so realy know there stuff which is really handy when you deal with gypos all day, Thats another sign of a good yard mate If its full of gypos then the yard really knows there stuff I dont know the latest prices as I have not been in work for two weeks and the price changes daily but two weeks ago we were buying it for around £1100 PMT and 18-8 for around £650 PMT. Hopr that helps mate
  7. I would deffo use it without a second thought and I would also pay a yearly fee or what ever as I feel that I am pretty competent in the home mechanic deparment its just that when you, and say your wife both use your cars daily for comuting ect it can be very tricky trying to sort out the simplest of things like servicing ect and just for ease I book them in at a garage to have it done, wich turns a job from just £40 in parts to £80 in parts and labour! when you are talking about 3 cars in your house hold that get seviced twice a year, the money soon mounts up! Its also some of the simpler jobs that turn into a pain in the arse but when you have a roof over your head, lights, a ramp and tools that you can use untill the small hours of the morning without worry, It tends to help. It would be just like a self service garage thats open 24 hours a day. But having about £7000 in hand tools and tool boxs ect I would be very concerned on people that had access to the stuff! It may not be the lads that pay to use the place it could be there freinds that they have taken along for company or whatever!
  8. I used to run 20/50 Valvolene VR1 and never had a problem, but I would use what Jeff recomends

  17. I dont think its a bad price mate! One of the lads I work with had his own buisness refurbing wheels and he charged about £100 a wheel! Its a lot of cash considering you can buy a brand new one for little more but he speacilized in big mercs and astons ect. What sort of 4 spokes are they as midland wheels I belive has just started selling the RS 4 spoke style rim at a resonable price
